It’s been a few weeks now, all the thank you cards are in the mail, the supplies put away and we’ve recovered from all the fun. We were so blessed to have an amazing turn out for our 10 year anniversary party, Plaid for a Purpose: a Decade of Outreach, a Future of Hope. Our supporters SHOWED UP for us in so many ways, and really delivered on wearing their best plaid outfits! We’re so thankful to all who came together to make this evening such a huge success!

There are still a few spots left where volunteers are needed this Thursday/Friday to put on Project Homeless Connect, a one day resource fair for folks experiencing homelessness. If you have a few hours to spare, please sign up!

We’re down the wire and we’re not sure our Volunteer Coordinator is okay. Can you help?

We’re looking for volunteers for Project Homeless Connect: Set-up on Thursday afternoon and early evening, and day-of support Friday late morning to early afternoon.

PHC is a very special event for our community as it provides on the spot services and resources for about 400 unhoused and housing insecure adults and children. This is one event we simply can’t do without your help!

We need your help!!! We're in preparation for Project Homeless Connect, a large one day resource fair for people experiencing homelessness. If you have a few hours to spare, there are still volunteer shifts available next Thursday afternoon/evening and Friday, October 8 and 9. Please follow the links from this Homeward Alliance to sign up to volunteer!

Want to support Project Homeless Connect but can’t volunteer during the event on Friday, October 9th? We have the perfect opportunity for you.

We’re looking for volunteers to help with setup the evening before at the Northside Aztlan Community Center. Setup runs from 3 to 7 PM on Thursday, October 8th, and you don’t have to commit to the full four hours. Even an hour would be a huge help!

Families and youth ages 12 and up are welcome to volunteer. Please note that setup involves some physical work, including moving tables and chairs and setting up canopies, so volunteers should be comfortable with those tasks.

We are blown away by all the people who came forward to sponsor Plaid for a Purpose: A Decade of Outreach, a Future of Hope. 16 total businesses and non-profits stepped up to support us and we couldn't be more grateful.
When we started out on this planning adventure we couldn't have imagined how well it would go, and how the community would step up to support the work we do. More pictures to come later this week!

The Health District is an vital partner in the work we do, and they have showed up in a huge way for us as a sponsor for Plaid for a Purpose.
We're involved in some of the long term planning their staff are supporting for folks with behavioral health needs, we make referrals to their various programs (especially the dental clinic), and we truly value them as leaders for the behavioral health (and physical health too!) needs of our community.

From Wes, an Outreach Specialist at OFC: I know OFC makes a difference when we delight in the person before us. To build trusting relationships, we must see each other with unshakable dignity. It is a humbling gift to sit with a person and be present to both joy and pain. Much of my work is simply holding a mirror-- reflecting back the goodness that the person before me maybe hasn't seen in a while. As we reintroduce the best of ourselves to ourselves, we begin anew-- taking active steps toward addressing the felt needs of our life's situation.

As part of our 10 year Anniversary celebration, we've collected 10 stories for 10 years from our staff. We asked them to use the prompt "I know OFC makes a difference......" Enjoy these various stories and thoughts from our team talking about the impact our program has made over the last 10 years.
