From Wes, an Outreach Specialist at OFC: I know OFC makes a difference when we delight in the person before us. To build trusting relationships, we must see each other with unshakable dignity. It is a humbling gift to sit with a person and be present to both joy and pain. Much of my work is simply holding a mirror-- reflecting back the goodness that the person before me maybe hasn't seen in a while. As we reintroduce the best of ourselves to ourselves, we begin anew-- taking active steps toward addressing the felt needs of our life's situation.

We're very proud to be putting their funds to good use, and thankful for all the relationships and opportunities this fund has provided for us!

From Edgar, an Outreach Specialist at OFC: I remember this was within the first few weeks of starting here at Outreach Fort Collins. We were walking downtown, where we heard yelling from a gentleman. He was pacing back and forth into traffic yelling about how unfair the world is. We decided to check on him and admittedly, I was a little nervous. To my surprise we were not met with dismissal, but instead gratitude for taking the time to talk to him. He calmed down and we sat for a while. He shared a conversation with the individual that involved him talking about how he got there. Although there were highs and lows during the conversation, the overall discussion was very pleasant. We shared our goodbyes and we left him in a better state of mind. That is when I know OFC makes a difference, when we have a conversation with an escalated individual and leave them better than we found them. Help us celebrate OFC by purchasing tickets!

Our work is the work of relationships; to get to the point where our clients open up about themselves, and their history, for them to truly let us in, it’s a thing of honor. We get to be present to peoples lowest days, and some of their best days. When we get to accompany someone to a lease up, and get to watch them unlock their apartment door for the first time, it’s such an honor to be present to that sort of thing. Your support of OFC helps us continue the vital work of connecting our communities most vulnerable to valuable supportive services.”

Today we had an awesome opportunity to host staff from Community Investment Alliance out of Durango, Colorado. We got to meet with their team, share conversations, introduce them to various partners, and share in the work of street outreach. It was very cool to get to talk shop with our counterparts in Southern Colorado!
