Yesterday in my cab I had an older passenger that was in terrible pain and I had to help her get into the cab. We were listening to KCSU and the CSU president was DJing. She played Jimi Hendrix's version of All Along the Watchtower as her final song. My passenger said from the back seat, "I saw Jimi in concert...twice."
She went on to describe seeing him at the Forum in LA and in San Bernardino, where the promoters sold 150% of the capacity of the stadium and a riot ensued, she recounted how her boyfriend took off his shirt and wrapped it around her head and led her through the tear gas clouds and billy clubbing cops. She also told me about seeing Zepplin twice and Peter Frampton at Shoreline. When we got to her place she was able to get out the cab on her own and had the biggest smile on her face.
Even just the memory of music is powerful medicine. For real.

Hello Fort Collins musicians and bands. Our fine city has a small business recovery grant that closes on the 15th. If Covid has affected your bookings and revenue as a band or artist, you could get some financial help from this grant.
The application is fairly simple but if you have questions please feel free to contact Eric Skjerseth by texting 970.795.2590.

As part of pandemic recovery efforts, the City of Fort Collins is launching the Small Business Grants program to help our local small business community address impacts of the COVID-19 health crisis.

Greta has been looking out for and helping Northern Colorado artists since at least 2003. We're proud to have her on our board. She is an amazing musician and human. We hope you'll vote for her.

Greta Cornett plays trumpet in two supremely uplifting bands (Mama Lenny and The Remedy and 12 Cents for Marvin), is cofounder and president of the FoCoMA - Fort Collins Musicians Association, puts together all the best festivals with all the best bands, and is the marketing arm at first-class venue Washington's FoCo. Congrats to Greta for her nomination in this year's Colorado Sound Music Awards! Voting is open through Aug. 31. https://buff.ly/3APZM7n

Look who today's Colorado Band of the Day is... Cary Morin 😎

Described as “one of the best acoustic pickers on the scene today,” Cary Morin brings together the great musical traditions of America like no other. With deft fingerstyle guitar and vocals that alternately convey melodic elation and gritty world-weariness, Morin crafts an inimitable style often characterized as roots-infused Native Americana with hints of bluegrass, folk, blues, and rock. He has performed at renowned venues across the globe, including the Kennedy Center and Lincoln Center, and is the recipient of numerous awards and accolades. David Bromberg remarks, "Cary Morin is a unique and brilliant guitar player, songwriter and singer. As a guitar player, I have huge respect for Cary’s style and technique…. If you haven’t heard him yet, you should. Try to remember that it’s only one guitar.” Music critic Bill Hurley writes, “His guitar skill is jaw-dropping, his voice is warm, worn of world experience, and his songwriting allows both of those things to flourish and captivate anyone in the room.”
