The Colorado Coalition for a Livable Climate (CCLC) develops and advocates strategies for reducing Colorado’s greenhouse gas emissions to levels supportive of a livable climate. We believe that the State of Colorado’s annual greenhouse gas emissions should be supportive of limiting the global average temperature rise to 1.5° C (2.7° F) or less by the end of this century, and should become carbon neutral by 2030.

This November, Colorado has the chance to choose a new Governor—one who must be ready from day one to tackle both our state’s long-standing pollution and climate issues and the current lack of federal oversight. Fracking remains at the center of this conversation, and the facts are hard to ignore.

It’s time to demand that our next governor stands up for our health, our environment, and our future. You can urge your future governor to sign Safe and Healthy Colorado’s Open Letter of Support to Stop the Expansion of Fracking, and stand with Coloradans who believe that a managed economic transition away from oil and gas production is both necessary and feasible for Colorado, by sending them the one-click letter in our bio.

Although oil and gas industry sites are the #1 cause of Colorado’s brown cloud of ozone smog, most pollution coming from oil and gas sites, including the powerful planet-warming gas methane, is invisible — to the naked eye, that is. But Andrew Klooster, certified thermographer and field organizer with Earthworks, can see this greenhouse gas pollution and other toxic chemicals with his optical gas imaging camera.
