Honor Mother Earth - Return of the Buffalo

Honor Mother Earth - Return of the Buffalo Honor Mother Earth Day*Return of the Buffalo: Honor Sacred Feminine 🌎🕊️ Changemaker Media & Events It was a good day.

Phoenixfire, Women’s Gathering & Star Sisters prepared for ‘the Gathering’ for months to ensure all details would inspire “Hope, Peace, Love, Harmony and Unity.” We thank you for your donations and never-ending support. The “Return of the Buffalo” herd watched us from a distance and we witnessed Grandfather Eagle fly over us to bless us and bring our prayers to the Great Spirit. Our two guest spe

akers, Linda Long-Fox Stump and Bill Bell spoke humble, good words of wisdom and during the Talking Circle men voiced their recognition and honor of the strength of Women. Tricia Depoe-Wilke spoke from the Makah Reservation (The Whale People), Washington. Valdean Brockie Mountain El Assad spoke of the need for an International Memorial Recognizing the Genocide of Indigenous Peoples. (See next article) Catcher Cuts the Rope spoke of Mother Earth Day 2014. Science is now proving and catching up with information that we as Indigenous People have known for thousands of years. Say “No” to the horrors of “gold mining” and other horrific environmental practices leading to the devastation of Mother Earth for future generations. One of our greatest natural resources is our children; and we can teach our children about our traditional ways of knowing and being, stories, buffalo and better practices for the environment as “We are the Keepers of Mother Earth.” Some of our barriers are meth-drugs/alcohol use, disunity and lack of Buffalo diet.” Buffalo have been teaching humans for eons. Our DNA is unique and requires us to recognize our ancient bond with Buffalo; we need to eat Buffalo to gain our strength back as “Buffalo Nations.” We have the resources to make the choice to put Buffalo back in our diets and lands. We recognize coming together as “One” in unity is powerful and we should do it more often for the good of All. Lastly, for a grand finale we honored the “Elders of the Buffalo Nations,” with a giveaway and a special tribute was given to the eldest couple of the Aaniiih Nations, Henry (Prince) & Ruby Brockie.

Where the Old Strength Rises

The elders say
there is a power beneath the quiet ground
that does not hurry to be seen.
It waits through long winters,
holding the names of those who came before.

A strong heart knows the weight of silence.
It carries the old stories
without bending beneath them,
and drinks from the deep place
where courage is born.

The sacred does not always come gently.
Sometimes it arrives like memory,
heavy with thunder,
asking the soul
to stand before its own truth.

There is fire in every bloodline
that remembers the first prayer.
It circles back through time,
through loss, through hunger,
through the hands that never gave up.

So walk with reverence
when the old strength wakes within you.
For what the ancestors guarded
was never only survival—
it was the spirit learning to remain whole.

Feather Song

The wind came to her like an old friend,
its breath warm with stories
carried over mountains and rivers.
She closed her eyes,
listening with her soul,
not her ears.

The hummingbird hovered near,
its wings a prayer in motion,
offering the taste of flowers
and the memory of sunlight.

In that moment,
she was not separate from the earth,
nor the sky
but the heartbeat between them,
the bridge of spirit and breath,
where woman and nature
are the same song.

Where the Quiet Feather Prays

There is a silence
older than the first fire,
a place where the heart kneels
without being told.

The wind carries no judgment.
It only remembers
who walked gently,
who listened before speaking.

A white-winged prayer
rests inside the chest,
teaching that softness
can still protect what is sacred.

The old ones say
love is not a loud drum,
but a steady hand
held over the wounded spirit.

So I return to the earth
with less anger,
more breath,
and a vow to leave peace
where my shadow has passed.
