A Liberty Tree was planted in Forsyth to celebrate America's 250th birthday on April 20, 2026. We joined with the Forsyth Garden Club and Forsyth High School MC-JROTC to dedicate this special tree to honor our past Patriots and to encourage the nurturing of Liberty for the future. Thank you to the Forsyth Garden Club and the Forsyth High School MC-JROTC for your participation in today's program and your dedication to our nation's liberty.

In the last photo Taneycomo Chapter members are holding signs saying "I am the Descendant of Patriot _____" and with the names of their ancestors who served in the Revolutionary War.

Do YOU have a Patriot in your ancestry?

Taneycomo Chapter was thrilled to honor these six student winners from local schools with the DAR Good Citizen and American History contests. These students give us all such hope for the future. Their essays exemplified patriotism and citizenship we should all admire. Great work!

Our chapter had its bimonthly Book Club meeting on Wednesday, Feb. 4 at Oaxaca Mexican Restaurant. We discussed the book, "Killers of the Flower Moon" by Cramm which was a riveting true story about the murders of several Osage tribe members in the 1920's and the beginning of the FBI. Our next book will be "Private Yankee Doodle" a book written by an enlisted "regular soldier" in the American Revolution. We continue to celebrate literacy by reading good books!

Taneycomo Chapter enjoyed our annual Christmas party and are happily showing the ornaments we received with a fun ornament exchange game. We also enjoyed gingerbread made using Martha Washington's recipe and learned how gingerbread baking was important in the Revolutionary War. Chappy's Diner provided some delicious goodies and punch to round out our celebration. Merry Christmas!
