9-year-old siblings Peaches and Jack are bonded bloodhounds. Jack is a handsome, 108-pound boy; his lovely sister Peaches weighs 96 pounds. They are said to be amazing dogs who are cuddly and laid-back.
The dogs have lived with other dogs in the past. It takes time for each to warm up to new dogs. They have also lived with cats, apparently without issue. Peaches and Jack have been fine with kids at age 12 and over.
Jack and Peaches are good to stay alone in their home as long as they have each other for company. They can manage quite a few hours between potty breaks. Peaches will bark to announce someone has arrived at the house. Jack will bark to let you know he's hungry or needs to get outside to do his business.
Obviously, these dogs are quite large. Their adopter should be able to manage their size and strength. Described as being "OK" on leash, we imagine a walk would mean a couple of walkers, not a single walker. We are told neither has arthritis at this time. The dogs have never had to climb stairs, so it is unknown if they can take them. Our advice would be to keep in mind that as they age, they won't be easily carried up or down stairs if they become unable to do so.
Peaches and Jack's owners are active-duty military. They are leaving the country and have decided they cannot continue to keep them, even after they return to the U.S. Time is short for them to find a new home. The hope is that they can remain together, but if necessary, their family will adopt them out separately. It is incredibly rewarding to give a home to a bonded pair.
Jack and Peaches are located at McChord Air Force Base in Pierce County, WA. For contact information please email [email protected]
These are not an Old Dog Haven dogs. Old Dog Haven have not assessed these dogs for medical issues and will not be responsible for medical care after adoption. We urge prospective adopters to do their own evaluation.
