Funding Futures

Funding Futures In the past 30 years, there has been outstanding progress in increasing the life span of people with Down syndrome.

Funding Futures Chicago is an annual fundraising event hosted by a group of dedicated friends and families across the nation benefitting the National Down Syndrome Society. The mission of the LuMind Foundation is to provide these now longer lives with more opportunities and greater independence. LuMind Foundation was established in 2004 as DSRTF to stimulate biomedical research that will accelerat

e the development of treatments to significantly improve cognition, including memory, learning and speech. The founders of the LuMind Foundation know there is a future in the knowledge unlocked by the mapping of our DNA. The goals of research are:
Participate more actively in school
Lead more active and independent lives
Avoid the early onset of Alzheimer's disease

Research is currently being conducted Johns Hopkins University, Stanford University, University of California, San Diego, University of Arizona, and University of Texas - Austin.
