This beautiful boy’s name is Muppet 🖤

Muppet was found as a stray, missing about half of his fur due to matting, but despite a rough life on the streets, this boy is stunning!

Muppet did test positive for FIV, likely from his street fighting days, but fortunately he’ll be an indoor only cat from here on out! ❤️

Welcome to April’s Kittens, Muppet!

Harley is waiting for his Best Day Ever!

This sweet boy came to us as a stray, and sadly no one ever came looking for him. Now Harley is on our adoption floor, hoping his forever family will walk through the door.

Harley is a friendly, affectionate guy who loves meeting visitors and soaking up attention. He’s also playful and enjoys chasing toys and having fun with his people. Whether he’s looking for pets or ready for playtime, Harley is always happy to be part of the action.

Could Harley be the missing piece of your family? Come meet him at April’s Kittens and help make his Best Day Ever a reality. ❤️

It’s pouring neuro kittens 😭

Little Marvin Gaye here is just 1 of 5 neurologically affected kittens we have taken into our care in the last 24 hours. We believe little Marvin here is affected by either toxoplasmosis or tetanus, which present very similarly by displaying muscle rigidity & body tremors 🥺

Our critical kitties require specialized care, which we are prepared to provide, however, we are short on some of our medical supplies ❤️‍🩹

You may remember Julian from a few weeks back. When he first came into our rescue, we thought we were taking in a cat with a shattered leg and fractured pelvis who would need surgery and a long recovery. We were ready to help him heal.

But at his first veterinary appointment, where we were beginning to develop a surgical plan for his injuries, his bloodwork revealed something unexpected: extremely low white blood cell counts. Additional testing confirmed our worst fear, Julian had panleuk.😓

This devastating diagnosis meant we had to put Julian's surgical plans on hold while we focused on treating the virus and giving him the supportive care he needed.

Julian has spent weeks in our Panleuk Recovery Suite receiving intensive supportive care. He has now completed his isolation period and will be returning to the veterinarian tomorrow for repeat bloodwork. We are hopeful, but we're still waiting to see if his bloodwork shows that he is stable enough to move forward with the next steps in treating his orthopedic injuries.

At April's Kittens, we specialize in medical cases like Julian's. Taking on these complex cases means going through a tremendous amount of medical supplies, medications, and equipment.

If you'd like to help us continue caring for cats like Julian, we'd be incredibly grateful if you would consider purchasing an item from our Medical Wishlist. Every donation helps us keep our clinic stocked and ready for the next cat who needs us.

Yesterday we took in the most BEST boy who was going to be euthanized after being hit by a car, suffering a broken pelvis 😢

Meet Andy. He can’t walk, but he is the most happy boy, despite his horrific injuries. We knew he was deserving of a 2nd chance, so we accepted him here at April’s Kittens 💖

Andy will be on crate rest, while we manage his pain. We aren’t sure what the future holds in terms of what treatment looks like just yet, but we’ll keep you updated on his progress ❤️‍🩹

We’re so happy you’re here, Mr. Andy!!!! ❤️

Meet Blue 💙

A little over a week ago, Anna, one of our directors and a Humane Investigator with the Department of Agriculture, received a report about a cat who had been tied up under a porch without food or water for several days.

When she arrived to investigate, she found Blue. Despite everything she had been through, Blue was happy to see friendly faces and immediately showed us what a sweet girl she is. With the assistance of the Chicago Police Department, we were able to get the homeowners to sign Blue over to us at April’s Kittens.

Imagine our surprise when we returned and discovered that Blue was microchipped to different owners. We obtained the registered owner’s information and made countless attempts to contact them. Although our messages were successfully delivered, we never received a response.

After waiting and following the proper procedures, Blue is now officially part of the April’s Kittens family.

We’re grateful she is finally safe, loved, and getting the care she deserves. Most importantly, we’re excited to help her find a true forever home where she will never have to experience neglect or mistreatment again.

Welcome to your new beginning, Blue. 💙
