As our community prepares for the storm, we want to take a moment to remind everyone to please stay safe.

Our Sea Glass Initiative team has just completed transportation for our unhoused and housed neighbors to reach shelter, and our staff and driver are now safely off the roads. We are grateful to everyone who has worked alongside us over the past few days to help our neighbors find safety.

If you are able to stay home, please do so, follow local emergency updates, and check on your neighbors when it is safe.

From all of us at Sea Glass Initiative, please take care of yourselves and one another. We are wishing safety for our entire Baldwin County community as this storm moves through.

While preparing for the approaching hurricane, our Sea Glass Initiative team has been working hard to help keep our unhoused neighbors safe. From coordinating transportation to emergency shelters and answering call after call from people looking for shelter options, our staff and volunteers have been busy making sure people know where to turn for help.

And in the middle of all that, we found time to show appreciation for those taking care of our community, too!

Our The Table by Sea Glass volunteers have been busy preparing fresh meals. Our staff took a break to deliver meals to the Foley Police Department, Foley Fire Department, Riviera Utilities in Foley, St. Paul’s Safer Place Shelter, and the Baldwin County Sheriff’s Boys Ranch. We are grateful for the people working hard to protect, serve, and care for our community during this storm.

We also received generous donations from Bad Ass Coffee of Orange Beach and were able to help distribute those to members of our community!

Behind the scenes, our staff and volunteers have been coordinating rides to emergency shelters, responding to calls, connecting people with shelter information, preparing meals, and finding ways to help wherever we are needed.

None of this happens without people willing to step up and do the work. We are proud of our Sea Glass team and grateful for everyone helping us meet the needs of our neighbors during this storm.

To our staff, volunteers, community partners, and everyone who has contributed their time, resources, or support, THANK YOU. Your efforts are making a real difference for people across Baldwin County.

Today, Sea Glass Initiative will be out in the community working to help our unhoused neighbors get to safety before weather conditions worsen.
Our team is actively working to locate people who may be living in tents, sheds, vehicles, or other unsafe places and encourage them to seek shelter.

If you are unhoused and need transportation to shelter, please contact us TODAY.

PREPARING FOR THE INCOMING WEATHER

With a storm expected to impact our area sometime Friday and Saturday, Sea Glass Initiative is making plans now to help unhoused residents who may need a safe place to shelter.

If you are an unhoused resident of Baldwin County and will need shelter from the storm, please contact us TODAY so we can help you make transportation arrangements.

SAFER PLACE IN FOLEY
St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Foley will open as a Safer Place for anyone in the community who needs a safe place to shelter from the storm. It will open Friday, with the exact opening time to be determined later today. We will share the confirmed time as soon as it is available. The Safer Place is open to the public.
If you plan to stay, please bring all necessary medications, a blanket and pillow if possible, along with any other essential personal items you may need.

NEED A RIDE?
Sea Glass Initiative can help provide transportation to an available emergency shelter or safer place for our unhoused residents. Please contact us today to make arrangements. Transportation will be available through Friday morning, with service ending later Friday morning for the safety of our staff and drivers.

If you need shelter, please contact us TODAY. Our goal is to help you get somewhere safe before conditions deteriorate and travel is no longer safe.

The Elks Lodge of Foley Southern Star Search Battle of the Bands is coming up October 16th & 17th, and we’re helping them spread the word!

Friday night, October 16th — they’re looking for solo acts of ALL kinds! Musicians, singers, magicians, entertainers… if you’ve got a talent, they want to see it!

🎸 Saturday, October 17th — it’s the Battle of the Bands! Bands will compete for up to $500 CASH + a demo recording session! 🎶

And we’re especially excited because a portion of the proceeds will benefit Sea Glass Initiative!

If you’re on Medicare, getting ready to enroll, helping an aging parent, or simply trying to understand your options, this presentation is for you.

We’ll take a closer look at Medicare Advantage and Medicare Supplement (Medigap) and Medicaid and help you understand the differences, what to consider, and the questions you should be asking.
