On Wednesday afternoon, when no staff or volunteers were available, a cat was dropped off at our shelter. Meet Joanie! ❤️We’ve spent the last few days ensuring Joanie is safe, warm, and has the medical attention she needs.
Joanie’s arrival is a reminder of how we can help community members who need to surrender or rehome an animal. As a small, independent, volunteer-run organization, we are limited in the number of animals we can house and the hours we are available.
We understand that life can change quickly, and sometimes those changes make it difficult to keep a pet. When that happens, please do not drop your animal off at the shelter unannounced. Instead, please reach out to us at 540-745-7207, and our team will respond as soon as we are able.
We offer community members:
• Food
• Pet supplies
• Pet houses
• Support for emergency medical expenses
• Dog tags
• Discounted spay/neuter
• and more!
We can also assist with rehoming and, in some cases, compassionate surrender.
If you find a lost or stray animal, please contact Animal Control at 540-745-9365, or call us first. We can help guide the next steps to make sure the animal stays safe and has the best chance to return home. In all cases, reaching out to our volunteers before bringing an animal to our shelter will allow us to serve you and the animal in the best way possible.
We’re grateful Joanie is safe. If you’re struggling to care for a pet or need guidance, please contact us. We’re here to help, without judgment.
Looking for a sweet old girl to cuddle with on the cold winter nights ahead? Watch this space. We hope Joanie will be up for adoption soon. 😻😻😻
