Storm ALERT

I remember evenings spent with my mom and sister during storms when I was a child. We’d gather in the living room, sing songs and play games until the storm passed. Even though the wind and rain blew against the house, we were safe and protected inside.

The disciples recalled the story of a storm on the Sea of Galilee. However they were not nostalgic, they told of a time they were terrified, didn’t trust God (Jesus was literally with them), and thought they would surely die!

Be Magnified

Have you ever looked at yourself in a lighted, magnified mirror? There is no escaping the proof of every flaw, every blemish, every imperfection. As Truvy Jones in Steel Magnolias eloquently stated, “Time marches on and sooner or later you realize it is marchin’ across your face.” The harsh light and magnification make it impossible for flaws to escape, leaving us focusing on the negative.

Fighting the Pain

I have a theory that there are three types of pain in our life: sudden, chronic, and residual. Some of us have a high pain threshold while others are side lined at the smallest twinge. Regardless of our tolerance to the pain, what are we doing with the pain we have?

Are you a little stale?

I begin each morning with a hot cup of coffee. I don’t drink from an insulated, travel cup either. No way! I like to drink from a good old fashioned coffee mug. The kind that has a large, round mouth made from ceramic or stoneware. You know, those cups that you can hold up to your mouth and nose and feel the warm steam as you take a sip. Ahh… bliss!

The downside to this lovely experience is your coffee will cool down faster in this kind of cup. If you don’t drink it rather quickly you will eventually need to reheat it. This is exactly what happened the other day…
