This year our event will be VIRTUAL! What this means is, you run a 5K (3.1 miles) of your choice on your own, any time from Saturday, September 12, until Sunday, September 27, 2020. You can choose to either 1) run the traditional Wellington Family Fun Run route (see map below, but remember to run on the sidewalk, NOT on the street, and obey all traffic laws and safety guidelines), 2) run another 5K route of your choice, or 3) run a 5K on a treadmill (location of the treadmill is your choice; if you are a member at Wellington you can choose to run on one of our treadmills OR you can use another treadmill. Since it is the honor system we trust you!) You turn in your own time by no later than midnight on Monday, September 28, 2020. After all the times have been compiled and tallied we will announce the results. This year in addition to the place medals we will also be awarding finisher medals to all participants who turn in a finish time by the deadline but do not place in the top three in their bracket. Medals, t-shirts and goody bags will be available for pick-up at Wellington Athletic Club approximately one week after the end of the event. If you are not a local Flower Mound area resident, you can specify that you would like to have your goody bag with medal and t-shirt mailed to you.
The event is open to everyone and participants are welcome to run or walk with their (leashed) pets, as long as you are participating outside! All proceeds from race entry fees, donations, and t-shirt sales will be given to Humane Tomorrow (formerly the Humane Society of Flower Mound).
The 5K entry fee which includes a t-shirt (for size 2xl shirts add $2) is $25. T-shirts may be ordered for $15.
Awards for the 5K race will be given to the overall and masters male and female finishers and to the top 3 male and female winners in the following age categories: 0-9,10-14, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64,65-69, 70+. We will also award finisher medals to all participants who turn in finishing times by the deadline but do not finish in the top three in their bracket.
