The Society had the most fascinating program this week presented by Beverly Foster. Beverly gave a talk on the history of African Americans in our area, sharing more than just slavery. She left us knowing there has been and still is much more contributed by the people whom we cherish. She showed some of the museum exhibits and county monuments. We are very appreciative of Beverly and all she does to preserve history in Walker County. Thank you, Beverly.

The Chattanooga Valley Historical Society held its monthly meeting and welcomed author, Jodi McDaniel Lowery. Ms. Lowery has written a book about her research into the 1963 Lula Lake murders on Lookout Mountain near Flintstone, Ga. Ms. Lowery gave a wonderful talk on her book and took questions from the group. Many members of the Historical Society have ties to the murders of Pete Steele and Carolyn Newell and the trials of James Blevins.
