Thank you to the Community Foundation of Greater Flint for this wonderful feature highlighting our work and our collaboration with our partners at the Flint Alliance for Immigrant Rights - FAIR, who help make it all possible!

We are so grateful for the opportunity to uplift the movement we are building and to continue collaborating with partners who share our commitment to supporting and advocating for immigrant families across Genesee County.

“We want people to choose community over everything.”

In a new Q&A, Lucine Jarrah, with the Arab American Heritage Council shares how the Flint Alliance for Immigrant Rights (FAIR) is building trusted support for immigrant families in Flint and Genesee County, from Know Your Rights education to voter guides in English, Spanish and Arabic.

Election Day is Tuesday, Nov. 3.

Last week, Salman (the owner and head chef of Kabuki Sushi in Flint) along with other crew members were detained by ICE.

Their loved ones are urgently raising funds for legal representation and other support needs. They have launched a GoFundMe which you will find a link for below and in our linktree.

(Español abajo) Our neighbor Jhon, a Venezuelan immigrant and Michigan resident, has been detained by ICE for the past two months at the Chippewa County Correctional Facility in Sault Ste. Marie. Torn away from the family who loves him.

His family is racing to hire a private attorney and is asking our community for help in covering legal fees, commissary, and communication costs while he's detained.

Did you know FAIR is organizing to get Flock and mass surveillance technology out of Genesee County?

Over the weekend, we came together to learn more about the expansion of automated license plate readers, and the growing use of surveillance technology in our communities.

Attendees talked through how these surveillance tools work, and the ways they are already being weaponized and abused., Most importantly, we spent time strategizing and discussing ways we can pressure our local city council members and commissioners to cancel their existing contracts and get these cameras uninstalled.

REPOSTED from Movimiento Cosecha GR : Let us demand JUSTICE for Mario and for all those who are no longer with us because of the brutality and violence inflicted by I.C.E. agents.

Mario deserves to be remembered not only for the way he died, but for the lite he lived: a father, a husband, a brother, and a person deeply loved by his family and his community. His family is asking for the support of our community to help bring Mario home to Guatemala and reunite him with the family who is waiting for him.

This Thursday, September 24, we will come together to honor his life, stand beside his family, and demand justice.
