Catherine's mom here. I was able get a proclamation for the city of Flandreau. I'm trying to raise awareness for SUDC so that maybe one day, researchers can find a cause for this awful thing.

Communities across the country are helping .

On March 2, 2026, the City of Flandreau, South Dakota issued a proclamation recognizing March as SUDC Awareness Month, honoring children gone too soon and supporting families affected by Sudden Unexplained Death in Childhood (SUDC).

We are deeply grateful to Erika Lee, SUDC Foundation Ambassador and mother of Catherine, for helping bring this important recognition to her community.

A heartfelt thank you to Mayor Daniel D. Sutton and the City of Flandreau for their leadership and support in raising awareness of SUDC. Local proclamations like this are incredibly meaningful. They help bring awareness to communities and honor the children gone too soon and families affected.

We encourage communities across the country to join us in recognizing SUDC Awareness Month.

📍 Visit our Proclamations Page to see whether your state or local municipality has issued a declaration.

If your state or community is not yet listed, we invite you to help lead the effort. Our page includes a step-by-step guide to help make it happen.
