Eleventh Hour Rescue is made up of dedicated individuals who believe that innocent pets deserve love and a place to live where they are honored and cared for. We rescue dogs and cats at the "eleventh hour"--when they are scheduled to be put to death by shelters who can no longer care for them. We give the dogs and cats all the medical attention they require, a place to live, and through our adopti

on services, a second chance at a happy and fulfilled life. We are affiliated with many like-minded animal groups throughout the United States. We invite caring people to join us as volunteers and graciously accept help in the form of time, supplies and monetary contributions. Eleventh Hour Rescue is a 100% volunteer organization funded exclusively by donations.

💔 SIMBA IS STARTING OVER… AND HE DESERVES A FOREVER HOME. 💔

Meet Simba Lonestar. At 7 years old, this handsome 58-pound boy has already known what it feels like to have a family. In fact, he was adopted from EHR as a puppy and spent his entire life in a loving home.

But through absolutely no fault of his own, Simba’s owner became ill and could no longer care for him. Now, after seven years, this sweet boy is back with us and looking for the home he deserves. 🥺

And honestly? Simba is the kind of dog so many people are looking for.

Meet Prospect GCH! 🐾💚

This 2-year-old, 15-pound little guy is basically the whole package. Friendly, playful, affectionate, and an absolute lap dog, Prospect is the kind of pup who will happily spend the day playing tug-of-war and chasing a ball, then curl up in your lap when it’s time to relax. 🥹

He loves people, dogs AND kids, and he bonds deeply with the people around him. He’s also house-trained, crate-trained, walks well on a leash, has basic training, and is eager to please. Did we mention he LOVES toys and squeaky stuffies?! 🎾🧸
Rescued all the way from Texas, Prospect has been waiting for his forever family. He’s neutered, microchipped, up to date on vaccines, and ready to start the next chapter of his life.

😾 SUNNY
Our dwarfism cat who is utterly disappointed in everyone.
Mostly because he knows he is ridiculously cute and yet, somehow, no one has taken him home yet.
Honestly? He has a point.

You know how sometimes a cat staring at you makes you feel like there’s a ghost standing directly behind you?
Yeah.

They were two of more than 150 animals who needed someone to finally see them. 💔

Tiny and Miracle didn’t grow up knowing what it felt like to be someone’s beloved pets. They were among more than 150 animals seized from a hoarding situation in Western North Carolina, where there were simply too many animals and not enough care to go around.

Imagine being so small in a sea of animals, never knowing when you would get attention, comfort, or the chance to simply feel safe.

But their story didn’t end there.
Tiny and Miracle were rescued from that situation, traveled to Tennessee, and now they have made their way all the way to New Jersey. 🐾

And despite everything, these two girls are still learning to trust, still discovering how wonderful people can be, and still hoping that their next chapter will be completely different from their first.

❤️ Tiny is a 1-year-old, 20-pound Beagle mix. She can be timid at first, but gentle pets and sweet talk quickly bring out her affectionate, cuddly side. She loves to play and would love another dog to learn from and call her friend.

❤️ Miracle is a 1-year-old Beagle mix, around 20–25 pounds. She is sweet, friendly, affectionate, and playful, with a calm personality and a love for attention. She would also love another dog by her side.

They have already lost so much simply because they were born into a situation they never chose.

Now they deserve the things every dog should have had from the beginning: a soft bed, a loving family, a safe place to sleep, and someone who will never let them wonder if they are wanted. 🥹❤️

Their journey has brought them this far.

We have 11 incredible dogs making their way to New Jersey, and we cannot wait to welcome them!

From playful puppies to gentle giants, these dogs have all been through different journeys—but they’re all looking for the same thing: a forever family.

🐾 Kay Kyser — 2-year-old female Chocolate Lab mix, 43 lbs. Sweet, mellow, easygoing, affectionate, great with dogs, leash-trained, and playful. She also tested well with cats!

🐾 Amarillo — 2-year-old male Pit Bull mix, 59 lbs. Friendly, playful, affectionate, goofy, and great with other dogs. And that adorable speckled nose! ❤️

🐾 Islarose — 1½-year-old female Husky/White German Shepherd mix, 40 lbs. Energetic, playful, affectionate, great with dogs and cats, and house/crate trained.

🐾 Bruce — 9-month-old male Cattle Dog mix, 35 lbs. Sweet, friendly, playful, affectionate, and great with other dogs. He has a little nub on his right front leg, but it certainly doesn’t slow him down!

🐾 Bert — 7-month-old male Yellow Lab/Hound mix, 57 lbs. A big, gentle puppy with a sweet, easygoing personality. Friendly, affectionate, playful, goofy, and great with dogs.

🐾 Ghost — 5-year-old male Mastiff mix, 100+ lbs. A true gentle giant! Sweet, loving, affectionate, good with dogs and kids, and house-trained. Ghost loves nothing more than being close to his people.

🐾 Kevin — 2-year-old male Husky mix, 60 lbs. Energetic, hilarious, playful, affectionate, and absolutely gorgeous with one brown eye and one blue eye! He loves dogs, people, balls, b***y scratches, and showing off his goofy personality.

🐾 Millie — 8-month-old female Lab/Rottweiler mix, 35 lbs. A sweet young girl who is playful, affectionate, loves toys and laps, and gets along with other dogs. She’s ready to finally experience the love and security she deserves.

🐾 Magnolia — 3-year-old female Black Lab mix, 52 lbs. A beautiful, friendly, sweet girl who has been through more than she deserved. She’s affectionate, playful, and good with other dogs.

Henna was found living in a crate on a porch, in direct sunlight, with no shade, no water, and surrounded by f***s. She was only a puppy. Instead of being loved, protected, and cared for, she was left to endure conditions no dog should ever experience.

Animal Control stepped in and removed her from that situation. And because Henna was so incredibly sweet, a rescue was called to save her from the possibility of euthanasia.

And this is where Henna’s story should change forever. 🥺❤️

Because look at her now.

Henna is a happy, tail-wagging, playful little girl who hasn’t let her past steal her joy. She loves people. She loves other dogs. She loves to PLAY. She loves being in your lap. She even loves swimming! 🐶💦

At just 11 months old and 36 pounds, Henna has so much life ahead of her. She’s energetic and would absolutely love an active family with a big fenced yard where she can run, play, and finally experience what it means to be a beloved family member.

While we’re celebrating ALL of our dogs, we wanted to give some extra love to our kennel pups. ❤️

The dogs you see in the kennel may not always show you their full personalities. Many of them act completely differently once they’re in a loving home. 🥹 They may need a little extra time, patience, and consistency to finally let their guard down and feel safe.

So we’re asking you to give those dogs a chance. The shy ones. The nervous ones. The ones who may not immediately run up to greet you. There could be an incredible, loving companion waiting underneath that initial hesitation. 🐾❤️

How has your rescue dog changed your life?

The answers remind us why rescue matters so much. ❤️

💬 “Our boy has brought us so much joy over the past few years. After the loss of our previous EHR Alums, our house was silent and sad. He brought so much happiness, chaos and laughs (emphasize CHAOS). We don’t know where’d we be without this big, d***y goofball, who was everything EHR said he’d be.” 🥰

💬 “A lot of people assume I adopted Chloe because I’m a volunteer- but my experience adopting her is why I became a volunteer!”

💬 “Oliver was a beat up dog who faced many challenges in his early life. Spending days on the streets of NY fighting for food and likely getting abused. EHR saved him but had to become his home for many years due to his challenges. I didn't want another dog because we were going to travel. But the moment I saw his picture in the paper I knew he had to be mine. In the few short years we had him he went from being a sometimes scary concern to being the most lovable animal I've ever owned. And all it took was Love and reinforcement that we were his family and he wasn't going anywhere and he wasn't going to get beat anymore but hugs and treats and love. He restored my faith that Love does conquer hate. That I did know what my heart was telling me when I saw that picture. That's all it took. I miss him dearly.”

💬 “Boris healed my broken heart. Lost both my dogs within a few weeks of each other and my house was too quiet. Boris needed me as much as I needed him... I took a chance on a kennel dog and I won the lottery.” ❤️

Toby is our red tabby with so much personality that we honestly didn’t even know how to caption this post. 😂 He has left us completely speechless.

At 13 years young, Toby is one of those cats you really just have to meet for yourself. He’s quirky, entertaining, and 100% authentically Toby. ❤️

Toby is looking for a forever home where he can be exactly who he is and spend his golden years being loved, spoiled, and appreciated for all his wonderful weirdness. 🥰🐾
