The Department of Energy's (DOE's) Office of Indian Energy has launched a Tribal Data Center Exploration Cohort to help Tribes learn about data center development, potential opportunities, and considerations - with no commitment to pursue a project. Click the link below for more information.

• Eligibility: Participation is open to Tribal leaders, Tribal government staff, and representatives of ANCSA corporations who want to learn more about data center development and partnerships. Participation may be delegated on behalf of the Tribal government by Tribal leaders or staff.
• Time commitment: Participation in the cohort means you will receive invitations to webinars (approximately one per month) and a convening in the fall (date TBA). Additional opportunities to connect with experts, developers, and fellow cohort members will be available at the request of the cohort. All participation is optional.
• Cohort goals: No commitments to data center development are required as part of the cohort. Resources provided to the cohort will be focused on better understanding data center development and its potential impacts, with the goal of supporting informed decision-making by the Tribe.
• Sharing of participant lists: Participant lists will not be shared outside of the cohort, to allow for a free-flowing place for discussion of data center development.
• Connections with private sector: At the in-person convening and some of the webinars, private sector partners including developers will be invited to share information, learn from participants, and make connections.

Partnering with a data center developer holds tremendous opportunity right now—from land leases, to selling power to the data center through a power purchase agreement, to infrastructure development and job expansion.

Have you heard about the National Safe and Healthy Housing Coalition's Monthly Policy Update series? The NSHHC (we are members) hosts regular calls for conversations about what’s going on in the federal policy world and what it means for healthy housing. The next call is this Thursday, August 13, at 2 p.m. ET.

Anyone is welcome to attend! While this is an ongoing series, you don’t need to be able to attend every call to participate. If you haven’t already signed up but want to join, you can register using the link in the comments.

In addition to an update and conversation about the current federal policy news and key action items from national organizations, we'll hear from Katie Rosenberg, from Wausau, Wisconsin. She's currently a State of Wisconsin political appointee and an elected supervisor to the Marathon County Board of Supervisors. Rosenberg served as mayor of Wausau from 2020 to 2024. Prior to that, she was a marketer for a Fortune 500 organization and worked in local media. Ms. Rosenberg will share about her experiences working on healthy housing issues as a local elected official.

This training will get you ready to submit a comment before the deadline on EPA's proposal to revise the public participation regulatory requirements for sources subject to Clean Air Act (CAA) New Source Review (NSR) programs approved into State Implementation Plans (SIPs). Specifically, the EPA is proposing to recognize in regulation that State and local air quality regulatory authorities (“air agencies”) determine, pursuant to the CAA, whether, when, and to what extent public participation in minor NSR programs is necessary to assure the National Ambient Air Quality Standards (NAAQS) are achieved.
