Elevate Nepal

Elevate Nepal Dan Maurer first ventured to Nepal in 2011, where he spent three months volunteering on farms and trekking to Mt. Everest’s base camp.

Immediately captivated by the country's beautiful landscapes and people, Dan left Nepal eager to remain connected. Since the 2015 earthquake, he has dedicated his time and knowledge to fundraising and rebuilding efforts, ultimately leading to the birth of Elevate Nepal, Inc.

This World Environment Day, we celebrate the communities of Nepal and the power of sustainable development. 🌱
From rebuilding earthquake-resistant homes and schools to bringing clean drinking water, sanitation, electricity, agricultural education, and sustainable livelihoods to remote villages, sustainability has always been the backbone of Elevate Nepal’s work.
Together with local communities, we remain committed to building a healthier, greener, and more resilient future for generations to come.

As we step into June, we’re celebrating a small but meaningful milestone in Deutis village of Makawanpur. ✨💧
In just seven months, Elevate Nepal has successfully constructed 65 water taps for marginalized Chepang communities—bringing safer and easier access to clean water closer to home.
These taps are now benefiting 63 households, while two taps installed at a local school are supporting 100 students every day. 💙
But we do not stop here. Together, we continue to serve communities still lacking access to basic necessities. Every contribution helps us reach more families and create lasting impact. ✨

In Nepal, some festivals don’t stay in one place, they move through entire cities, carried by music, crowds, and centuries of tradition. 🇳🇵✨

“Jatra” comes from the Sanskrit word yatra, meaning “journey,” and is a traditional Nepali street festival where communities come together in processions, dance, and celebration to honour deities, mark seasonal cycles, and keep local stories and beliefs alive.

Rooted in Newar culture and celebrated across Nepal, Jatras bring communities together through traditions tied to the Nepali New Year, harvests, and stories of gods and goddesses. Many feature towering wooden chariots carried through the streets by collective community effort.

More than festivals, Jatras are living expressions of unity, faith, and culture that continue to shape everyday life in Nepal.

Behind every project in Makwanpur are people whose work makes everything possible.

Harka Bahadur D**g and Babu Moktan have played key roles in Elevate Nepal’s Makwanpur Rural Community Development initiatives since 2022.

As our construction foreman, Harka spends months at a time living in remote villages overseeing construction and helping build earthquake resistant infrastructure in some of Nepal’s most challenging terrain. His decades of experience in rural development have been invaluable to our work.

Babu, our transportation manager, helps keep every phase moving forward coordinating materials, navigating rough mountain roads, and connecting remote communities, workers, and supplies across the region.

The work in Makwanpur would not be possible without the dedication and knowledge that Harka and Babu bring to these communities every day. 🇳🇵

A glimpse into life in Deutis.

These are the people we’re proud to work alongside. We’re dedicated to collaborating with locals to ensure our initiatives meet their needs and goals. While daily life continues, it’s their collective effort, time, and commitment that make lasting change possible.

We’ve brought clean water to Deutis. Here’s how it’s transforming life. 🚰🇳🇵

It supports daily routines. Eases responsibilities. And brings more consistency and safety to the village. People can now practice hygiene, water their crops, and stay hydrated — without having to walk miles. This is why water is a foundational building block for sustainable communities.

Meet Resham Bal, Elevate Nepal Director of Operations.

Based in Nepal and on the ground, Resham is at the core of Elevate Nepal’s work. His role spans across every stage of our projects, from initial field research and community assessments to planning, coordination, and day-to-day operations during implementation.

Being present in the field allows him to work closely with communities, understand local needs directly, and help ensure each project is both practical and sustainable in the long term.

His involvement is a key part of how we move from idea to impact, keeping our work grounded, responsive, and community-driven.

Happy Mother’s Day 💙

Today, we recognize the strength, resilience, and care of mothers across the communities we work with. They're often at the center of daily life: managing households, caring for children, and ensuring water is available for their families.

In many villages, this responsibility can mean long hours spent collecting water. Access to clean water closer to home helps ease that burden, saving time, improving health, and allowing more space for work, rest, and family life.

It’s a simple change that can make a meaningful difference.

To all the mothers, thank you for everything you do, every single day.

Somewhere in the hills of Nepal, a wedding celebration is already underway long before anyone arrives at the venue 🇳🇵🎶

Friends, family, neighbors, all dressed in their best, riding together through winding mountain roads with music playing, dancing in the back of a pickup truck, and turning the journey into part of the celebration itself.

In many communities across Nepal, weddings are deeply collective moments. The entire village comes alive with energy, laughter, music, and movement. There’s something special about the way joy is shared so openly where every road becomes a dance floor and every person becomes part of the memory.

A small glimpse into the spirit of celebration in Nepal ✨
