Arizona Trail Association: Gear Girls

Gear Girls uses mountain biking, trail work, and snow sports to build confidence, outdoor competence,

Girls learn practical skills in trail building, mountain biking, cross country skiing, and snowshoeing while absorbing lessons in mindfulness, teamwork, and determination that will prepare them for life’s bigger challenges. Girls from Flagstaff, AZ, meet weekly for ten practices in a season and are coached by a supportive all-female staff in a low pressure setting. All gear (including mountain bikes, cross-country skis, snowshoes, winter boots, gloves, and more), transportation, healthy snacks, and leadership is provided at no cost to participants.

Help us get more girls outside, build confidence, learn new skills, and discover their potential through mountain biking and outdoor adventures. 🚲 Ride-a-thon update!

This week, Gear Girls packed a LOT of adventure into one week!

We kicked things off with a girls-only skills clinic with Arizona Mountain Bike Academy , where we learned, practiced, and had a whole lot of fun building our mountain bike skills.

Then we hit the trails for a little ride to put those new skills to the test — because what better way to learn than to get out there and ride!

And we wrapped up the week by enjoying our public lands at Picture Canyon, exploring, getting outside, and spending time together.

Every mile we ride during Gear Girls helps us build confidence, outdoor skills, and community — and your Ride-a-thon pledges help make these experiences possible!

A BIG, BIG thank you to Dark Sky Brewing & Pizzicletta for hosting the sweetest night for our entire Gear Girls community!We got to hang out, eat some delicious pizza, cheers to our amazing coaches, and officially KICK OFF our Gear Girls Ride-a-Thon!

Now it’s time to get those wheels turning! Our girls are riding for 9 practices, and you can cheer them on by pledging per mile OR making a one-time donation! Every dollar helps us keep getting girls outside, building confidence, trying new things, and discovering just how awesome they are.

I am so incredibly grateful for every family, coach, volunteer, business, donor, and community member who continues to show up for these girls. Gear Girls is so much more than riding bikes — it’s about creating a space where girls can be brave, be themselves, support each other, and have a whole lot of FUN along the way.

Gear Girls Week 1 is officially in the books! 🎉

Mother Nature had other plans for us Friday when a monsoon rolled in 🌧️⛈️, so our first ride was a rain check! BUT… Saturday brought sunshine, and our Gear Girls were ready to roll!

We hit the Continental Loop at Campbell Mesa and logged 2.27 MILES together! 🚵‍♀️💨

Weekend Total: 2.27 miles

We are celebrating an AMAZING Community Partner!

We are SO excited and incredibly happy to finally present Stephanie with the Arizona Trail Association’s Outstanding Community Partner Award for her incredible hard work, generosity, and dedication to Gear Girls! 💖🚲🚵‍♀️✨🪩

Stephanie goes above and beyond to support our Gear Girls community in so many ways. From the DSB Community Cycle Celebration, where a portion of the proceeds was donated to Gear Girls, to inviting our girls to table at her events, she continually creates opportunities for our program to grow, connect, and thrive.

She even gave Gear Girls a special night of our very own—a chance to come together as a community, celebrate what we’re building, and raise money for this amazing program and the girls who make it so special. Details to follow 🧐😊🥰🚲
