Peace and Balance Peace and Balance Peace and Balance is built on teaching of the Dine’ and Hopi peoples of the southwest.

Hopi are traditionally called the “Peaceful Ones” and the Dine’ or more commonly known as the Navajo live by a teaching of “hozho” which translates into meaning, living a balanced life. Using traditional philosophies and Western technology we aim to build bridges between the youth, elders and community. One of the core goals of the Peace and Balance Project is to inspire cultural resiliency by kee

ping our oral traditions alive and building bridges between elder and youth groups using technological tools. This Elders Video-Audio Recording Project (Elders Project) is one of our core strategies for achieving resiliency and biocultural conservation. In the Southwest we’re at the pivotal point where traditional knowledge is becoming extinct due to the influx of technology and globalization. Historically these processes have been used to colonize and oppress our people but we aim to use technologies and social media to responsibly record the stories, teachings and knowledge of our Elders and the cultures of the Southwest and link these in a dynamic and meaningful way to the culture of future generations.
