Happy May, Friends!

As spring hits its stride, we’re feeling extra grateful for this community. Huge thanks to everyone who’s shown up, supported, and hung out alongside us as we’ve charted the wild waters of launching our nonprofit.

For those who need a refresher on what drives us, here’s our mission:

To empower individuals from diverse socioeconomic backgrounds by providing accessible resources, affordable outdoor expeditions, and meaningful community outreach.

We are so excited to welcome our new board member Justin!

Here's why Justin joined our Board:

"I became interested in DARR because they advocate for people to enjoy the outdoors where otherwise they may not for a variety of reasons. For adventures that should be the most accessible and affordable hobby, to some they are not, and I love the idea of being able to bring the outdoors to their front step.

For me, nature is a very special place. Some of the reasons I can explain, some I have yet to find a way to articulate. Overall, it boils down to reconnecting to a place that for many, our society or our circumstances can at times pull us away from. Being outdoors is so important to develop our appreciation for our surroundings in order to use these connections with nature to become better champions for our planet, improve our mental health and open our eyes to the world around us – but also to have some fun too!

Nature doesn’t care how much money you make, how many parents you have, what you’ve been through or where you’re from. Unfortunately, however, some of these things do create roadblocks for people and DARR is working hard to bridge that gap, and I honestly cannot think of a more noble effort."
