I've been quiet about our operations in Nigeria as of late, and I apologize for that. It doesn't mean we haven't been doing anything, it's just been a busy season.
Our manager in Jos, Nigeria, is a self-taught chef by trade. He's been catering and even owned a restaurant for a while until some unfortunate events occurred.
Well over a year ago, he asked if we'd support him in going to trade school. He was still undecided due to various things going on in his life, so the conversation halted. Recently, he decided to make that leap, so we funded his schooling.
While discussing this, he mentioned he was saving up to feed all the "BASA" girls. The BASA girls are all the teenaged girls at the local orphanage where he grew up and managed for many years.
Of course, I couldn't allow him to pay for this.
Get this.
For $140, he fed nearly 40 people. Not just a simple meal, but a full-blown feast!

These girls generally eat well thanks to the organization supporting them, but a feast like this is meant for big celebrations; so this was a treat.
For reference, the average Nigerian eats meat in their meal maybe once a year. It's just simply out of the budget.
With inflation happening over there, some things are more expensive than here!
We'd like to make this a more regular occurrence.
