Action Alert: Protect Student Access to GALILEO This Semester!

Georgia schools may lose statewide access to all K-12 digital resources, including ProQuest, Explora, AP Source, and Encyclopedia Britannica on April 1 if full funding is not included in Georgia's AFY 2026 state budget. This resource is widely used by English teachers to support research, media literacy, and differentiated instruction.

We encourage GCTE members to contact their Georgia State Representative and Senator and ask them to support full (and recurring) funding to ensure continued access for students.

Brief history and information on GALILEO, Georgia's virtual library.

Honoring -The Power of Voice

As we reflect during Black History Month, we remember Rev. Jesse Jackson — not only as a civil rights leader, but as a powerful whose words shaped generations.
Through phrases like “Keep Hope Alive” and “I Am Somebody,” he demonstrated how repetition, rhythm, and affirmation can inspire belief and mobilize change. His speeches remind us that rhetoric is more than a literary device — it is a tool for dignity, agency, and civic engagement.

For English educators, his legacy reinforces what we teach every day:
Voice matters. Word choice matters. Delivery matters. May we continue helping students find their voices — and understand the power of using them.
: How does repetition in a speech strengthen its message, and why do you think phrases like “I Am Somebody” resonate across generations?
