I want to give you all an update on our babies at Numan.

Arsema is doing very well! Arriving at 1kg she is now 5.3kg!! To put that in lbs 1kg 2.2lbs, 5.3kg is 11.6lbs she 3months old.

Matthew came to us during my trip in April, He is the same age as Arsema. He arrived weighing bout 2kg(4.4lbs) and now weighs 7.1kg(15.6lbs)!

Then we have Abdi, Abdi was 3 months old when I first met him at the local children’s hospital. At that time he was smaller than Matthew. He has since had his shunt surgery, arrived at Numan and is THRIVING! He is now 3kg(6.6lbs) He is now 6months old.

These three babies are thriving when they once were forgotten. They spent their days in bassinets, they had very limited human contact. Bottles were propped up for Matthew and Abdi, when it fell out of their mouth it was just gone. ( Arsema was tube fed at the hospital, due to being premature and not having a suck reflex). When they arrived Numan they were obviously afraid, their stomachs were so small they could barely finish 1oz of milk. Because of Mesa’s patience and continued care they learned to trust. Slowly they started drinking enough to support growth. Im so thankful for Mesa and Endale💗.

Note - Abdi is still needing a sponsor!

Thank you to everyone that came by our booth on the 4th! Blaine was absolutely bursting at the seams!
We had an amazing time. Met some beautiful Ethiopian ladies, one of who is interested in volunteering locally. Met a family that had also adopted 3 girls from Ethiopia. I just love making these connections! Met amazing people who were touched by our mission as well.

Special thanks to my cousin Cindy and daughter-in-law Alivia for helping out! Absolutely couldn’t have done it without you!

We raised just shy of 2k 🎉🎉🎉🎉

Absolutely love our community!

I’d like to introduce you to our newest member of the Numan Family. Only known as baby Besa, ( they use the birth mother’s name for children abandoned at the hospital). First met him on my visit in April. Mesa had originally met him when she came to meet Arsema, they along with another baby boy ( adopted by a family in Ethiopia) shared a small
Bassinet)
Besa was then 3 months old and in desperate need of a shunt for his hydrocephalus. Thanks to the generosity of Amy Symth Miller we were able to buy the supplies needed for his surgery.
He has since recovered and is now at home at Numan Children’s Home. He also has a new name! I was given the honor of naming him. His name is Abdi, it is an Oromo name ( tribal area we are in )
It means Hope.
He will return to the children’s hospital in Assela for check ups every 15 days. At his arrival at Numan he was 5 months old, very small and malnourished. I don’t know his exact weight but he is still fitting in premie clothing! Endale made the trek to Addis to buy high calorie formula for him.
He has come so far! He also needs a sponsor! Please contact me if you are interested.

This is Arsema. When she arrived to Numan Children’s Home she weighed 2lbs, wasn’t drinking from a bottle yet. Mesa would feed her by dipping cotton in formula and drip it in her mouth. Three days after she arrived she took her first bottle. The 3rd photo is one I took about 3 weeks later. While I was there I was able to capture her first big smile. Now a month after I left she is a CHUNK! Last I heard she was just over 4 lbs… Im thinking a bit more.
This is what we are there for. We stand in the gap. Children that were considered unwanted are wanted at Numan. Children without a family now are part of the Numan Family. This is what love and care does, this is what your support does.
Thank you!
