I always share my water with Piglet because he doesn’t backwash. 😸😻😹😹😹

With lows like these, it was time to make a decision on how we were going to heat the cat sanctuary this year. 🥶🥶🥶

The pellet stove smoked its motherboard right at the end of last season. 🔌 We looked into repairing it but honestly didn’t want to mess with the heavy bags of pellets and messy ashes again this year, so after quite a bit of research, we decided to upgrade to a mini-split system. Happy with our decision, we started pricing out the project of running a 240 line to the cat sanctuary, which is about 200 feet from the house, and boy, were we in for a shock!! ⚡️

Just the underground wire alone was over $1,000!!! 😩

Slightly defeated, we went back to the drawing board. We priced out parts to repair the old pellet stove, and the estimate was only about $200 cheaper than a brand-new stove. 🤔 So this weekend, we purchased a new pellet stove, install kit, and our first 10 bags of pellets from Tractor Supply, and got it all fired up! 🛠️🔥

Heavy bags or not, Warm Kitties = Happy Me!! 🐾❤️

Our bottle ninja paid us a visit! It’s getting cold at night so we’ll use this returnable money for straw. ☺️ 💕🐽🥶

Don’t forget to get your guesses in by 10pm tonight!! I’ll announce the winner tomorrow! 🥇

Let’s break away from our usual content and play a little guessing game!!

We went grocery shopping at Meijer today and did a big grocery shopping trip. It was the first time we have done a big personal grocery order in about six months so we were out of a lot of stuff!! We didn’t get any paper goods or household cleaning items. We also didn’t get anything for the animals…except the apples and oranges that I’ll probably share with the pigs. 🙈💕🐷 This was also a mix of vegan and non-vegan food. 🥗🧈🥞🧀🍞🍳🥔🥦🍓🍎

How much do you think we spent?? 🤔⁉️

The closest guess, without going over - by 10pm on Tuesday, September 22nd - will win a $15 Target or Meijer gift card. If you don’t live near one of those stores, I’ll send one to an online store of your choice! 💵

Let the guessing begin!!! 🤩

PS. I’ll post a hint in the comments. 😉

Last Friday I was finally able to bring this sweet Lamancha goat home from the Kensington Lake Metro Park Barn. Her name is “Joreo”. She is 3 years old and had to have an udder removal (double mastectomy) at MSU after an aggressive mastitis infection. She is absolutely the sweetest goat ever and I’ve been working on this plan for over a month now! We finally got a donation to rent a uhaul van but I was too nervous to even make a post about it until she was home and settled. 😬🤩🙃

For those of you who don’t know, which is most of you… 😬 I actually grew up on a dairy goat farm. I did not like goats…at all. 🫣 They were so much work and other kids did not have to get up and milk goats before school. I also HAD to be in 4-H. One year, I had a beautiful show goat. Her name was Michelle because she was born on my birthday. She was MY goat. We won SO many ribbons her first year, but you can only show does for one year and then they have to be bred. Sadly, after having her first kids, her udder was not considered “show quality” and she was butchered. That’s something that sticks with you forever. 💔 Some days I wish I didn’t know what I know about farm life… the “girls are for milk, boys are for meat” mentality is why I am now 100% plant based. 💚

Anyway, I didn’t really mean to go off on that side quest story… 😂

Welcome home, JOREO!!! We absolutely LOVE you already!! 🥰🐐❤️

That’s funny…I don’t remember building double decker goatie houses. 🤔🤦🏼‍♀️🐐😅😍
