Update on the ribbon cutting from Ganges Township.

Useful information:
- event starts at 1:00 pm Nov 1st
- some parking will be blocked off prior to event
- township has arranged for shuttles from West Side county park (3/4 mi south). Attendees are asked to park there and take shuttle (Interurban) starting at 12:30.
- attendees can expect acknowledgements by project representatives and elected officials
- light refreshments

Even though the park has been open for some time now, Ganges Township is having a Ribbon Cutting Saturday, November 1st at 1:00pm to celebrate completion of the improvements.

Reminder: July 20, 2025 - Second Brick Order

People have been donating Bricks the past few days which is great to see!!!

Ganges Township is still accepting donations. Donations of $200 received by July 20th will be included in the next Brick Order planned for install by August 1st. See the Ganges Township "Pier Cove" tab on their website for how to donate. https://www.gangestownship.org/Pier%20Cove.html

Update: July 12, 2025 - Pier Cove is Open Again

Many have been asking... and the answer is YES. Please read for further announcements: ☀️

Is the Park Open?
YES - Please enjoy the beach and be respectful of others.

Is all the work done?
NO - the wood railing is temporary and will be swapped out later and poles cut shorter. There are still interpretive signs, rules signs, and boundary signs to be installed. 29 donor bricks were placed, but there's more to order. A donor recognition sign and bench plaques are planned to be in place by August 1st.

Can I still get a Brick?

Sorry, the plaque had to get ordered so we can no longer include names on the Group Plaque.

Will there be a Ribbon Cutting?
YES - this has not been scheduled yet, but we are working to finalize a date and time for the community to celebrate all the hard work and generous donations that made the renovation and property acquisition possible!

🛑 Pier Cove remains closed 6/27 🛑

☀️To all visitors of Pier Cove Park:

We’re making great progress on the Pier Cove Park renovation and are anticipating it to reopen very soon! 😃 Stay tuned to this page for updates and details.

We’d also take this opportunity to remind everyone that parking is not permitted anywhere along Lakeshore Dr. If the parking lot is full, we encourage everyone to drive 🚙 about one mile south to Westside County park where there is ample parking, restrooms, a changing room and picnic areas. We are anticipating active enforcement of parking violations by local authorities. 🚔

In addition, visitors are urged to respect private property rights. ✋😃While Pier Cove Beach is a public park, the shoreline directly north and south is privately owned. Beach walking is the only activity allowed. Signage is posted, and all trespassing laws apply.

Construction Update 6/12/2025:

Concrete plaza area has been poured! There are still many items to complete. The park will remain closed until major items or work are complete and it is safe to remove the fencing and allow public access once again. The current estimated date for this is before June 28th. That is subject to weather and other unforeseen delays.

Once the park is reopened there are still some finishing items of work to get done in July. These include placement of donor bricks, the donor plaque, and some of the signage items.

We are excited to see the project coming together and know people are anxious to enjoy the beach this summer. Thank you for being patient and utilizing West Side County Park in the meantime.

Also, donations are still being accepted by the township for donor bricks ($200/brick) and donor plaque ($500 for name on group plaque). Please note the plaque donations will end July 1, when we place the order. Brick donations will continue until space is no longer available and will continue beyond July 1.
