Just a few things to think about, why you should donate? A typical baby needs 10-12 diapers a day and a toddler needs approximately 8 diapers. At a cost of between $100 and $120 a month, diapers are an expense that many families struggle to meet.
1 in 20 mothers who has had to cut back on other purchases to pay for diapers has reused a disposable diaper.
36% of mothers living in poverty regularly run out of clean diapers for their infants. Diapers are not covered by social welfare systems like WIC or food stamps/EBT Card because diapers are considered “hygiene items”. Families are sometimes forced to use one diaper a day for their babies. These babies can experience diaper rash, infections, and other health problems. Babies with severe diaper rashes often cry more – more crying coupled with the stress of living in need can lead to child abuse. Babies who cry excessively are the most likely to be victims of shaken baby syndrome…

We thought that 4524 Diapers was the total donated but before we left a customer ran up with one more box of Diapers...bringing the total to 4608 Diapers and 8630 wipes donated to this year's collection to support our communities and those that need some help. They filled the van! Thank you Pacific Christian Academy, Renita Hall, and the families that supported this year's annual March of Diapers diaper drive. The Pacific Christian Academy collected 5814 Diapers and 1120 wipes. The students in the leadership group filled the van with the donations and their smiles were infectious. Thats the way to ensure our future has compassion with young leaders like this!

Thank you Green River Area Kiwanis and Fred Meyer Covington. The second year Kiwanis partnered with Fred Meyer in Covington and they received 6569 diapers, 2664 wipes and $586 from the community. They didn't stop there, bringing in an additional 2777 diapers, 5186 wipes and $20 in cash at their monthly Division council meeting. With diapers purchased from the cash donations 11,360 diapers and 7850 wipes will go to the families and seniors in need of support.

The sign of a great diaper drive...empty shelves! Thank you to the City of Federal Way mayor Jim Ferrell, Bill Valdino, the city council and Fred Meyer Twin Lakes Federal way. And don't forget the Federal Way community that generously gave back to the community. We collected 10 057 diapers and 3134 wipes at our annual partnership with the City and the Federal Way Fred Meyer in this year's March of Diapers diaper drive.
