Congratulations to Kelsey Lawyer-Crawford for representing the Behçet’s community with such grace, purpose, and heart at the North Ridgeville pageant. 💙

Kelsey used her platform to raise awareness for Behçet’s disease, proudly wearing blue in honor of our community and the hope we continue to build together. While she did not place this year, she was honored with the Director’s Choice Award — a beautiful reminder that advocacy, service, and impact extend far beyond the stage.

“The blue gown I wore on stage was more than just a dress—it was a symbol of my commitment to raising awareness for Behçet’s disease and the incredible community I am proud to represent.

While I didn’t place at this year’s pageant, I was deeply honored to receive the Director’s Choice Award, a reminder that advocacy and service leave a lasting impact beyond the competition.

Thank you to ABDA for allowing me to use this platform to shine a light on Behçet’s awareness and advocate for our rare disease community. I am so grateful for your support and for the opportunity to make blue stand for hope. 💙”

Thank you, Kelsey, for helping make blue stand for hope.

Thank you to everyone who participated, donated, shared, walked, ran, and helped make this Virtual Awareness Walk such a meaningful part of Behçet’s Awareness Month.

Whether you joined as a patient, caregiver, loved one, clinician, advocate, or friend, your participation helped remind our community that no one has to face this disease alone.

We had hundreds of participants from all over walking, running, and raising awareness for Behçet’s disease — and together, we raised over $3,000 in support of the ABDA.

During our Zoom check-in, members of the community shared where they were walking from, who they were walking for, and why this mission matters. It was a powerful reminder that no matter where we are, we are connected by a shared commitment to awareness, support, and community.

Every step helps raise awareness, build connection, and support the American Behcet’s Disease Association’s mission to provide resources, education, support, and hope to those impacted by Behçet’s disease. We are so grateful for this community. 💙

We asked our Behcet’s community: “How can others better support someone living with Behcet’s?” — and your answers were honest, thoughtful, and powerful.

Swipe through to see what our community shared — and consider this your reminder that small acts of understanding can make a big difference for someone living with Behcet’s.

Today is Behçet’s Disease Awareness Day, and we’re asking our community to come together for $20 for May 20th. 💙

A $20 donation helps the American Behcet’s Disease Association continue advancing awareness, research, education, advocacy, and community connection for those affected by Behçet’s disease.

Every gift helps us show up for patients and families who deserve to feel seen, supported, and understood.

In honor of May 20th, will you give $20 today?

Today, we wear blue in support of Behçet’s Disease Awareness Day. 💙

On May 20th, the American Behcet’s Disease Association joins patients, caregivers, families, clinicians, advocates, and volunteers in raising awareness for Behçet’s disease — a rare, complex, chronic form of vasculitis that can impact many parts of the body and every part of a person’s life.

To our community: you are not alone. Your stories matter, your experiences deserve to be seen, and your voices are helping drive awareness, education, research, and support forward.

Thank you to our ABDA staff and volunteers for wearing blue and standing with the Behçet’s community today and every day.

Wear blue. Share your story. Help us spread awareness.

Behçet’s Disease is rare, complex, and often misunderstood. While it can affect people worldwide, it is most common in regions along the historic Silk Road, with the highest reported rates in Turkey. Because symptoms can affect multiple body systems — and there is no single diagnostic test — many patients face delays in diagnosis and care. Awareness helps change that.

This discussion will cover:
- What the early phase of diagnosis can feel like
- How symptoms, flares, and treatment change over time
- The shift from short-term coping to long-term management
