I don't have a lot of good photos from the Hot Mess Express Washington County AR mission yesterday, but here are a few. This was a tiny 400 square foot apartment. The single mom started over a few months ago after escaping an abusive marriage with the help of Peace at Home. She is single mom to a toddler and was overwhelmed. The apartment has very little storage. We had a couple of people donate some storage containers she can use for clothing and books, and we had someone donate this beautiful bedding set for her and all new pillows. These 6 volunteers worked so hard and accomplished so much in just a few hours. We have another volunteer who couldn't be there, but picked up probably the equivalent of 30 loads of laundry from this mom to wash and return. It takes a village, and sometimes people don't have one. That's what we do. ❤️

Our next Hot Mess Express Washington County AR mission is for a young mom to a toddler. She has recently started over after escaping an abusive marriage with the help of the local women's shelter. Her apartment is very tiny, just 400 sq feet. She is overwhelmed and does not have many storage solutions. We will bring a group of non-judgmental women volunteers to help her clean, organize and get a fresh start.
Things she needs that I think would be really helpful, if anyone has these to donate or sees them at a really reasonable price-- but keeping in mind that the rooms are small /the whole apartment is small so there's not room for much.

*Toy storage ( he's just a toddler, so probably a toy box rather than the little bins with cubbies)

*Dresser/chest of drawers for the bedroom

*Kitchen trash can (has been donated)

Queen size bedding

Organizing boxes/bags, etc.

Cleaning supplies ( we bring our own but the nominee needs some to keep)

* this is also a great opportunity for someone to do some laundry for her prior to the mission. If anyone is willing to pick up some dirty laundry and do it before Tuesday, please let me know.

Our September mission was in Fayetteville. We had 8 volunteers. We were honored to help a single mom. After going through many big life changes the past few years, including a divorce and grown kids moving out, she was overwhelmed with clutter and belongings and needed help tackling it. We focused mostly on the shelves and drawers and cabinets, and worked on getting her bedroom less cluttered.

We organized, hauled away donations and cleaned. Our nominee worked hard along with us - - she conquered lots of paper clutter, too!

Our next Hot Mess Express Washington County mission will be Sunday, Sept 20 in Fayetteville afternoon.
We are going to need at least 7-8 volunteers for this mission.
Our nominee is a single mom. After going through many big life changes the past few years, including a divorce and grown kids moving out, she's overwhelmed with clutter and belongings and needs help tackling it. We will be focusing on the shelves and drawers and cabinets, and work on getting her bedroom peaceful and uncluttered for her.
