Vice President, Maintenance Representative, Cook Representative, and Treasurer were all up for election at this year's General Assembly. Daniel Smith from Harrison County was elected Vice President, Mark Weisenburg from Berkeley County was elected Maintenance Representative, Kristen Cain from Wood County was elected Cook Representative, and Marketta Crum from Mason County was re-elected Treasurer.

At the March WVSSPA Executive Committee meeting, President Talkington announced her retirement from Harrison County Schools. Our constitution requires officers to be regularly employed service personnel in West Virginia, so Sherri has stepped down from her unexpired State President position. During her announcement to the Executive Committee, Sherri said she would miss her WVSSPA Family and that it was very difficult for her, but she felt it was the right decision for her and her family. Join us in wishing Sherri a happy retirement! She has dedicated many years to WVSSPA, and her leadership will be missed.

The WVSSPA Executive Committee has appointed David Thompson to fill the remainder of Sherri’s term. David previously served as WVSSPA’s Vice President and is currently the Wayne County SSPA president. When accepting the appointment as WVSSPA President, David said he was honored to serve as WVSSPA’s President and has always advocated for better working conditions and quality of life for the working class. He also expressed his enthusiasm for working with all our members.

Fayette County School Service Personnel Association meeting May 14 at 6pm at Midland Trail High School. Need to still fill several officer/representative seats. There will be a drawing for a few gift cards for members present at the meeting. Please consider coming. Remember, no show/no vote = no complaint. Please pass this info to others.
