The city of Fate has a BIG problem 🧠👀👂
Congratulations to our former mayor, David Billings—and let’s be thankful that “former” is part of that title.
On his “retired mayor” page, while discussing Monday night’s agenda and again alleging violations of the Texas Open Meetings Act, Billings claims Flock cameras help combat drug trafficking, child abduction, and other crimes.
Yet, while advocating for their reactivation, he also describes their approximate locations. If those cameras were operating, couldn’t those descriptions help the very criminals he says the cameras are supposed to catch avoid them?
When we asked where the Flock cameras were located, we were told that information was not public.
So how did Billings obtain it? Was it already publicly available, was it provided to him by someone at City Hall—including the City Manager?
Those are fair questions. If residents are denied information that a former mayor then shares publicly, the City owes us an explanation.
Where is he also getting the data about the hot list and the percentages?
And if Billings believes these cameras are essential to public safety, why publicize details that could help someone avoid them?
Inquiring minds want to know.
