RIP to an absolute legend. We will always love you Dolly 🩷

A queen of country music, a fantastic actress (Steel Magnolias, anyone?), a philanthropist who loved to make other people smile, and an ally of the LGBTQ+ community who held steadfast in the belief that love conquers all.

She was an icon in every sense of the word.

Enjoy the last days of warm weather with us before the chill of fall sets in! 🌸🍂

This upcoming weekend - Saturday, August. 29 - Farmville Pride will be leading a nature walk around the beautiful Wilck's Lake.

If you haven't ever walked this trail before, just know you are in for some gorgeous scenery and a great view of local wildlife! 🐿🦆🦢

We're planning to meet at 10 am by the trail entrance right next to the skate park, where we will set forth on the trail together. Bring your good walking shoes and get ready to have some chill outdoorsy fun. The weather should be clear that morning, with showers later on in the afternoon!

Sometimes we find community in the places we least expect ✨

The question has been on everyone's mind lately... who started the What's Happening in Farmville page, NC or VA?! While that is still up for debate, our newfound friendship and love for our towns is not.

Over a month ago, Stephen (founder and beloved board member of Farmville Pride) reached out to Alex Joyner - Mayor of Farmville NC. With Farmville Pride entering a new era centered in community, we wanted to see if we could push the boundaries beyond our little town and across state lines to our long lost sister city to become partners in Pride.

Alex and his fiancé, Andrew, took the time to plan a weekend trip to VA's Farmville to see what it's all about! The Farmville Pride board had a lunch with our special guests at Savour, and then took them around town to check out some of the shops lining our beautiful Main Street. They got to see and read the rich history displayed at the Moton Museum, as well as eat out at some other staple downtown restaurants (Walker's Diner and Fox & Lamb). 🥞🥓🍕

They also joined us Saturday evening at Uptown for our Bingo event, where we got to introduce Farmville, VA Mayor Brian Vincent to Alex and make another connection that unites our homes even further.

While we only got to show them a small bit of what Farmville, VA has to offer - we hope that this partnership can continue to bloom and thrive! As for what's next... maybe a trip to Farmville, NC?! 🌾🚗

Thank you again to Alex and Andrew for traveling a little ways up north so that we could join forces and share a little bit of our cherished town with them. We can't wait to see what the future holds for Farmville²!

This past Saturday was our first Bingo event!🖊🔴🎉
We are so grateful for everyone who came to play, especially considering the rain storm with extreme winds that could've swept us all away (not to mention the hail)😅

It was truly one for the books. We were joined by our esteemed Mayor of Farmville, VA Mayor Brian Vincent, as well as a few special guests - the fabulous Alex Joyner - Mayor of Farmville, NC and his fiancé Andrew! There will be a separate post to talk about our blossoming partnership with the beautiful town which shares our namesake, so keep an eye out for that soon ☺️

It is always a joy to have our community together to share in some good ol' fashioned fun. We couldn't have done it without the amazing team at Uptown Coffee Cafe for graciously hosting our gathering and creating some beautiful food trays 🍽️ as well as the prizes donated by several businesses in town (including The Fishin' Pig, Lex on Main, Mystik Raven, Three Roads Brewing, Fox & Lamb, and Valkyrie Book Collective)!

Another extra special thank you to Kim Henry whose infectious energy kept our night of fun entertaining and running smoothly. She always kills it! 🎤🎶

Since it was such a hit, we are hoping to make this a regular event. Keep an eye out on our socials for the future happenings of Farmville Pride 🌈✨ We are continually appreciative of all of the love.

Why? Have fun and play some good old fashioned bingo hosted by DJ Kim Henry! Meet new people in your community and have some low-stress fun 🥰

Your first cards will be free (donations appreciated for additional cards 🤍). Light refreshments will be provided🍴and there will be lots of great prizes for our Bingo winners (graciously provided by your favorite Farmville shops)!
