The vital importance of the financial support for Veterans causes that our Golden Kielbasa Veterans Open ("GK") generates each and every year was never more evident than this week, when we came to the aid of the storm-damaged Iwo Jima Memorial Historical Foundation Inc.'s National Iwo Jima Memorial Monument & Park on the Newington/New Britain line – just when its caretakers needed help the most. Our $1,000 donation came six weeks in advance of the September 25 “GK” at Tunxis Country Club and months in advance of when DAV Chapter 8 typically distributes charitable donations from this event’s net proceeds - and was made possible because of YOUR support of DAV 8 and the "GK." At September 25's Golden Kielbasa Veterans Open, presented by Liberty Bank, DAV Hardware City Chapter 8 will have the privilege of again presenting the prestigious Angelo Tomasso, Sr. and Angelo Tomasso, Jr. Veteran of Distinction Awards. This year's honorees are decorated Newington Army Vet Robert Roy, who is fighting the cancer battle of his life, and the late Kensington Marine John Lynch, whose legacy of stalwart Veterans community leadership continues on. Whether you make a day of it out on the course, come for the awards dinner only, or support us with a sponsorship or tee sign, this is one special Veterans charity event worthy of your generosity.
