Foundation Spotlight: Love From Lincoln ♥️🫀
At Schmidt Healing Hearts Foundation, we believe some of the strongest missions are born from life’s most difficult journeys. Today, we are honored to spotlight and support Love From Lincoln, an incredible organization created from one family’s experience navigating pediatric heart failure and transplantation.
On February 13, 2024, Lincoln’s life changed unexpectedly when he was brought to a local hospital with shortness of breath, a fast heart rate, and stomach pain. His family was shocked to learn their 4-year-old was in severe heart failure and later diagnosed with dilated cardiomyopathy.
After his health rapidly declined, Lincoln was placed on ECMO and later received a Berlin Heart, a mechanical pump that sustained him while waiting for a transplant. For nearly 10 months, his family lived between Boston and Connecticut, balancing hospital life, work, and family while holding onto hope.
After 327 consecutive days in the hospital, Lincoln celebrated his 5th birthday, and just five days later, he received the gift of a new heart. Today, Lincoln is home, in kindergarten, and living his best life. Out of this journey came Love From Lincoln, a foundation dedicated to supporting families through transplant journeys with financial assistance, gift cards, personalized support, and meaningful acts of kindness.
As Love From Lincoln continues growing its mission, Schmidt Healing Hearts Foundation is proud to lend a hand and stand beside them as they get started with their foundation.
