💧Island Park Pool – Sensory-Friendly Update💧

I reached out to the Fargo Park District with a suggestion: offering a sensory-friendly swim time with access to the big slides and features. Right now, those are closed during sensory hours, which can leave some kids stuck between too loud and too limited.

Good news: they’re open to the idea and are planning a community survey soon to gather more feedback as they plan for next season.

👉 If this matters to your family, keep an eye out and make your voice heard. Inclusion gets better when we speak up! Alternatively, you can send a direct email to Fargo Parks at [email protected] Fargo Park District

Hello Everyone !!! The inclusive playground of Moorhead is set to have a ribbon cutting on May 30th at 1:30pm. (There will be an event that I will share once it's ready!)

I've been asked to bring as many folks as possible to play on the playground during this ceremony AND get any kiddo's that would like to cut the ribbon as well.

Can you make it? Got a kiddo who wants to help cut the ribbon?

Reach out to me if you have any questions!

Hoping we get a great turnout!

October is National Disability Employment Awareness Month (NDEAM) and has also been proclaimed Disability Employment Awareness Month by Minnesota Governor Tim Walz. In 2021, the percentage of Minnesota people with cognitive disabilities who were employed was 47. 7%. The percentage of people without disabilities that were employed was 83.5%. With the emphasis on eliminating subminimum wage, more people are looking for work outside of sheltered workshops. Employers are looking for people to work. We suggest people with disabilities are willing and able to fill some of those positions.

News for Our Special Needs Support Group! 🌟

Minnesota has seen a recent development that affects our community. Both legislation and a court decision have extended the eligibility for transition services for students with disabilities up to the age of 22.

We're eager to know how our members feel about this change and what questions or thoughts you might have. Your input is vital, and we're here to discuss and address any queries you may have. Let's hear your voices! https://www.pacer.org/

PACER Center's mission is to expand opportunities and enhance the quality of life of children and young adults with disabilities and provide family programs.

Hello everyone! I'm looking for information on special needs swimming lessons in the area. I've already tried MSUM, but their lead instructor for special needs has graduated and is no longer available. I would appreciate any recommendations or suggestions for alternative programs. Thank you in advance for your help!
