Equal Measure Arts was founded in 2024 as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit to make professional studio recording more accessible to students and other under-privileged musicians, using the resources of Monaco Studios in Falmouth, ME.

🎛️ Are you staring at this picture right now and feeling an uncontrollable urge to press buttons and turn k***s?? Then you may need to enroll in our Studio Recording 101 workshop with at , starting this month for teens and adults.

👋 But the gear is only part of the picture - this week, let's meet the instructors who will help you decode the mysteries of this studio desk!

🔍 Kosta Johnson is a producer, engineer, and educator with over a decade of professional studio experience. He graduated from the Recording and Music Production program, and has served since 2015 as Studio Manager/Chief Engineer at C Blake Studios, an award-winning gospel recording facility. A five-time Grammy-nominated engineer, Kosta has built his experience both in the studio and through years of on-location live recordings for indie artists and major labels alike.

🎓 In addition to his studio work, Kosta has taught in Drexel University’s Music Industry program as an Adjunct Professor, leading courses in modern production techniques and Pro Tools-based recording and mixing. He has also spent several years as a Chapter Governor and Co-Chair of the Producers & Engineers Wing of The Recording Academy’s Philadelphia chapter, advocating nationally for producers and engineers, expanding membership, and helping guide conversations around emerging technologies within the recording industry.

🎛️ Studio Recording 101 is BACK next month! now for teens AND adults, hosted exclusively at at Monument Square! sign-ups for this 8-week workshop with are now live with limited capacity, so don’t delay! (they make a great holiday gift for the musician in your life too!) 🎁
🔲 we couldn’t think of a better way to kickstart public programming at our new home base: the whole reason ended up at 34 Preble was when we filled up the last round of these workshops over the summer, and heard consistent feedback that our community wanted more opportunities for training in audio engineering & music production in a more accessible location. so here we are!
🧑‍🎓 our team of instructors (, .giorgi, ) is so excited to work with you: you’ll get experience in a professional studio; try out different mic types & recording techniques; record a live MAMM band; practice comping, editing, & overdubbing; and learn the fundamentals of mixing, mastering, and sharing songs. we’ll catch you at [the square] next month!
