HK & Macau - International Association of Emergency Managers The mission of IAEM is to serve its members by providing information, networking and professional opportunities to advance emergency management profession.

The IAEM-Asia Council represents 30 countries, which take a widely divergent approach to emergency management. Council leaders and members want to network with emergency management professionals throughout Asia, and to take an active part in promoting disaster preparedness and resilience.

There is no vaccine for this infectious disease at the moment. To prevent pneumonia and respiratory tract infection, members of the public should maintain good personal hygiene at all times and keep both hands clean. When travelling outside Hong Kong, do not touch animals; do not eat game meat; and avoid visiting wet markets, live poultry markets or farms. After returning to Hong Kong, if you have a fever or other symptoms, wear a surgical mask, consult a doctor promptly and reveal your recent travel history.

The No. 8 Northeast Gale or Storm Signal is in force.

This means that winds with mean speeds of 63 kilometres per hour or more are expected from the northeast quarter.

At 8 p.m., Tropical Storm Wipha was centred about 320 kilometres southwest of Hong Kong (near 20.0 degrees north 112.4 degrees east) and is forecast to move west-northwest at about 20 kilometres per hour towards the vicinity of western Guangdong.

Wipha is now at its closest to Hong Kong, skirting around 300 kilometres to our southwest, and will begin to gradually depart from the territory tonight. The Gale or Storm Signal, No. 8 is expected to remain in force for most of tonight.

The IAEM hosted the Emergency Management Technical Workshop 2019 at the Cathay Pacific City. The workshop brought together more than 30 participants from Hong Kong with the aim of enhancing emergency management (EM) and strengthening their network. Four guest speakers from Hong Kong (Peter Morgan, Edward Chow), Taiwan (Steve Lee) and Macau (Antonio Rosendo) have been invited to speak at the workshop and share their experiences on various subjects in relation to the EM.
We are very grateful for the support of the Cathay Pacific Airways and Zoll Medical Corporation in contributing to the venue and snack for the event.
