Chapter Goals

The Iowa Psychiatric Nurses Association is a Chapter of the American Psychiatric Nurses Association (APNA). APNA is the premier voice of psychiatric-mental health nurses in the United States as well as internationally. Since that time, the Iowa Chapter has emerged as Iowa’s only formal professional organization for psychiatric nurses. We invite all psychiatric nurses practicing in I

Jen is next up on our Iowa Chapter Board spotlight series! 🎉

Jennifer Manternach is a nurse practitioner with over twenty-five years of pediatric experience in the hospital, clinic, and school setting. She graduated in August 2020 from the University of Iowa College of Nursing Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) program with a dual degree in Pediatric Primary Care and Psychiatric Mental Health. She is currently employed at Hills and Dales in Dubuque, Iowa, specializing in developmental and behavioral pediatrics. The Hills & Dales Developmental & Behavioral Health clinic specializes in comprehensive evaluation, diagnosis and individualized intervention for children and adults with a range of behavioral, developmental and learning challenges. The clinic aims to reduce barriers for individuals with disabilities and complex behavioral challenges.

🥰 Next in our Iowa Chapter Board spotlight series is our wonderful treasurer, Jenifer! 🥰

Jenifer Grissom, DNP, ARNP, FNP-BC, PMHNP-BC serves as the APNA Iowa Board Treasurer. She is dual certified as a Family Nurse Practitioner and a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner; and obtained her Doctorate of Nursing Practice. Dr. Grissom currently provides pediatric outpatient mental health care and is a graduate nursing/PMHNP instructor. Outside of work, she loves to spend time with family, travel, go to concerts, and cheer on her hockey team.

The Iowa Chapter Board spotlight series continues... ‼️

Anasara Henry, DNP, ARNP, PMHNP-BC, AGPCNP-BC has been an active member of APNA since 2017, and currently serves as the Immediate Past President of the APNA Iowa Board.

Dr. Henry is a dual board-certified Nurse Practitioner in the areas of Psychiatric Mental Health and Adult Geriatric Primary Care. She earned her Doctorate from the University of Iowa with special emphasis in population level healthcare. She has over 15 years experience in healthcare and currently works as a Psychiatric Hospitalist at UnityPoint Health in Sioux City, Iowa. Dr. Henry also serves as a consultant for the Iowa PCA Project Echo. Anasara spent 5 years as the Director of Behavioral Health Services at United Community Health Center in Storm Lake, Iowa. Academic teaching experience includes: 5 years as an Associate Professor at Briar Cliff University in the Graduate Nursing Program.

Dr. Henry’s professional interests include managing complex mental health disorders, treatment of geriatric syndromes, and improving access to mental health care for all Iowans. She enjoys spending time with her family, friends, and anything outdoors.
