Today marks one year since the passing of Deputy Tristian Redmond, and his memory continues to live on through the lives he touched, the community he served, and the brothers and sisters who stood beside him. His dedication, courage, and commitment to protecting others will never be forgotten. Though time has passed, the loss is still deeply felt by all who knew him, worked alongside him, and loved him. We will always remember the kind of person and deputy he was—someone who answered the call to serve with strength, integrity, and selflessness. His legacy remains a lasting reminder of the impact one person can have on a community, and he will always be remembered with respect, gratitude, and honor. We miss you buddy.

This week we celebrate National Public Safety Telecommunications Week, and we want to take a moment to recognize and thank our incredible dispatchers at The Churchill County Sheriff's Office as well as the Fallon Police Department.

Behind every call, every response, and every moment of crisis, there is a calm voice on the other end making sure help gets where it’s needed. You are the unseen first responders and the lifeline for both our community and our Law Enforcement, Fire Department and Medical providers.

Thank you for your dedication, your resilience, and the countless hours you spend serving others—often without recognition. We see you, we appreciate you, and we are so grateful for everything you do behind the scenes each and every day. We could not do this without you.

Funeral Services for Sheriff Richard C. Hickox Jr.

The Churchill County Sheriff’s Office would like to thank all the agencies, first responders, organizations, businesses, and, ultimately, the people of Northern Nevada and Churchill County for the support and love shown for Sheriff Hickox as we brought him home on Sunday. It was an emotional time for his family and his brothers and sisters in blue. The support for law enforcement in our community is uplifting and not taken for granted.
Funeral services for Sheriff Richard C. Hickox Jr. are scheduled for May 2nd, 2026, at 1:00 PM at the 3C Event Complex, 227 Sheckler Rd, Fallon, NV 89406.

It is with deep sadness that the Churchill County Sheriff's Deputies Association recognizes the passing of Churchill County Sheriff Richard Hickox Jr.

Sheriff Hickox honorably served in law enforcement for 28 years. His dedication, leadership, and unwavering commitment to protecting and serving the community will never be forgotten.

We extend our heartfelt condolences to his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of serving alongside him.

Rest in peace, Sheriff Hickox. Your service and legacy will live on through those you mentored and inspired to do the right thing for the right reasons. We take comfort in knowing that one day we will see you again, and that you will be there waiting with a warm smile and a hot cup of coffee.

Another successful food drive!! We would like to thank everyone who participated in the dodgeball fundraiser, who made it possible for us to gather 23,760 pounds of food for the community. Thank you to the Fallon Police Department, Fallon-churchill Volunteer Fire Department, Banner Churchill EMS, Churchill County Search and Rescue, and Battleborn MedEvac for participating to this great cause. A special thanks to lahontan Elementary for assisting us with the collection of food that was donated through them.

Thank you to Telegraph Coffee, Stone Cabin Coffee, Woody's Burger Shack, Port of Subs, and Walmart to their contributions.

The Sheriff's Office took first place with collecting 6,600 pounds of food!!

This event again showed how when assistance is needed, our community steps up. We are already looking forward to next year!

On November 22, 2025, the Churchill County Sheriff's Deputies Association hosted a dodgeball fundraiser tournament for the First Responders of Churchill County Food Drive. Thank you to everyone that participated and spectated the event. We smashed our goal of $1,500 going towards the food drive. It was a great event with enough fun to go around for everyone. Congratulations to the winning team of the tournament, Gym Class Heroes! Here are some of the pictures from the event.
