By popular demand we are announcing our next set of amateur radio licensing classes for 2026 held at The Academy at Mountain West Fi****ms, 1484 Charlotte Highway in Fairview.

The entry-level Technician Class license course will be offered on Monday and Wednesday evenings starting Monday, February 2nd and continuing for four weeks with the final session and testing on February 25th. The Technician Class license gives licensees privileges on the popular 2 meter and 70 cm (VHF and UHF) bands that facilitate portable, mobile, and base station communications using mountaintop repeaters.

After numerous requests we are also offering the first General Class licensing class. General Class is the mid-level amateur license that opens to the licensee the exciting opportunities of worldwide communication on the high-frequency (HF) bands. Slightly more technical than the entry-level Technician license, the course will run for three hours each Sunday evening from 5:30 pm to 8:30 pm for seven weeks, beginning February 1st and ending on March 15th (no class March 8th).

Enrollment deposit for the Technician class is $50 which includes the study guide valued at $25. Upon successful completion of the course the student receives a $25 gift card at Mountain West Fi****ms, our host for the classes. The enrollment deposit for the General class is $75 which also includes the study guide and a $50 gift card at Mountain West Fi****ms upon completion of the course.

Examination sessions will be held the final class session of each class. These classes may be taken simultaneously for those new to amateur radio. For those who already have a Technician license, only the General class course is recommended.
