🌳🎃 This Halloween morning, something special is taking root in Fairport Harbor!

As part of FHDOC's participation in America in Bloom, urban forestry is an important focus area for us in our community. We are proud to partner with the Village of Fairport Harbor, Ohio and the volunteer Tree Commission in support of a tree planting initiative made possible through an ODNR grant.

The grant funds removal of unhealthy trees and replace them with healthier, better-suited varieties for street trees lawns that will strengthen our community's urban forest for generations to come. This effort is part of a larger, long-term urban forestry plan being developed with guidance from an urban forestry consultant and the Ohio Department of Natural Resources.

Trees do so much for our community. They provide shade, improve air quality, enhance property values, support wildlife, and make our neighborhoods more beautiful and welcoming to residents and visitors alike.

We encourage residents to visit the Village website to learn more about the Tree Commission, the long-range urban forestry plan, and the many benefits trees bring to our community. Together, we're helping Fairport Harbor grow stronger, greener, and more vibrant one tree at a time. We hope you'll join us on Halloween to grow our community! 🎃🌳💚

YARD OF THE MONTH: HALLOWEEN EDITION! 👻🎃

Our September/October Yard of the Month belongs to Patty & Kyle Kloss at 270 Orchard Street!

For 13 years they've been transforming their beautifully landscaped yard into an ever-growing Halloween spectacle. Patty calls Kyle the mastermind. He spends more than a month setting it all up, tweaking the details and adding new pieces every year.

🧛 Dracula has been around since the early days.
👻 Dolly, the handmade ghost, is Patty’s favorite.
👀 Kyle’s favorite? The NEW spooking guy in the sky.

👏 Huge thanks to Patty & Kyle for going all out and bringing some serious Halloween spirit to Fairport Harbor. Head to the corner of Orchard & Plum!

👉You'll find a link to all of this year's inagural YOTM winners in the comments. Thank you to all village residents who've made Fairport Harbor a more inviting place to live and work in!

🌸 Growing brighter together! 🌸

Recently, Maria Zampini, Board Member of the Fairport Harbor Opportunity Development Corporation (FHODC), attended the 25th Anniversary America in Bloom Symposium in Alexandria, Virginia, representing the initiative and the Village of Fairport Harbor.

The symposium provided an incredible opportunity to connect with communities from across the country, exchange ideas, and gather inspiration for enhancing our local beautification and community engagement efforts. We're grateful for the knowledge, friendships, and fresh perspectives that will help Fairport Harbor continue to grow!

As part of the event, Harbor In Bloom received an America in Bloom plaque, which FHODC will proudly present to the Village. The plaque will soon be displayed in Village Hall as a reminder of what can be achieved when a community comes together with pride, passion, and purpose.

Thank you to everyone who helps make Fairport Harbor such a special place to live, work, and visit. 🌷💙
