LUMINARIA PREP MOVED TO 1 P.M. TOMORROW. Due to expected inclement weather in the morning, the luminaria preparations set for tomorrow, Friday, Dec. 6, have been moved to 1 p.m. for the sand bagging at the golf course sand pit and 1:30 p.m. for the kit assembly at 228 Lake Ridge Dr.

GARBAGE PICKUP DELAYED TOMORROW, Thursday, Sept. 12

The City of Fairhope would like to inform you that there will be a delay in garbage service tomorrow. Collection will begin at 7 a.m. Please ensure that you do not place your garbage can curbside until this time.

Additionally, please note that there will be no recycle pick up tomorrow. Our crews will solely be focusing on picking up garbage and trash.

City Lifts Watering Ban

Fairhope Public Utilities is lifting the Water Conservation Phase III ban on irrigation enacted last week due to a well mechanical failure. A temporary pump has been installed on the affected well, and it is pumping about 1 million gallons. Fairhope Utilities customers are urged to water their lawns and gardens between the hours of midnight and 4 a.m. For further information, call 251-928-8003.

Electric Meters Being Replaced This Week in Quail Creek.

The City of Fairhope electric department will begin changing out residential electric meters in Quail Creek on Tuesday, February 20. It will be working in the neighborhood on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. Employees will knock on the door before changing out. Residents do not have to be home at the time of the changeout.

Due to forecasted rainy weather, the luminaria kit preparation originally planned for this Friday, Dec. 1, has been moved to Tuesday, Dec. 5. Bagging of sand for the luminarias will be at 8:30 a.m. at the golf course sand pit. Kit assembly at 9:30 a.m. at 228 Lake Ridge Dr.

Be aware we are under the following mandatory water restrictions that limit watering to specific days and times according to your numbered street address.

Irrigation utilizing individual sprinklers from hoses or buried sprinkler systems for the purpose of watering lawns, gardens, landscaped areas, trees, shrubs, and other plants is prohibited, except on designated water-use days which shall be as follows:

• Odd-numbered street addresses will water on Monday and Wednesday

• Even-numbered street addresses will water on Tuesday and Thursday

• No irrigation shall be performed between the hours 5 – 9 a.m. and 5 – 9 p.m.

• No watering will be allowed on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday

Customers found to be in violation of the mandatory phases may be issued a citation and may be required to appear before a municipal judge. Fines could be up to $500. The new ordinance allows a warning for the first offense, a $300 fine for a second offense and $500 fines for any additional offenses.

This is the new Phase II: WATER WARNING – Mandatory Compliance. Beginning at a time deemed necessary by City of Fairhope and after public notification, the restrictions shall apply to all residential customers or persons who use City of Fairhope water system. Phase II restrictions will remain in effect until lifted by the Governing Body or until demand averages at or below 90% of capacity for 7 out of 10 days.

The City of Fairhope has several water projects underway that will increase water capacity by 2 million gallons. Both are slated for completion in the Spring of 2024. For more information, please call 251-928-8003.

Please be advised that the City of Fairhope has enacted the following mandatory water use restrictions to conserve water during the extreme heat:
- Irrigation is strictly prohibited.
- Washing of private vehicles is prohibited on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.
- Swimming pools can be filled by users with odd-numbered addresses on Monday and Wednesday; even-numbered addresses can fill pools on Tuesday and Thursday.
- Washing of sidewalks, streets, driveways, parking areas, tennis courts, patios, or paved areas is prohibited except by the Street Department or Fire Department to alleviate health or fire hazards.
- Taking water from a fire hydrant is prohibited without written permission from the City of Fairhope.

Customers found to be in violation of the mandatory phases may be issued a citation and required to appear before a municipal judge. Fines could be up to $500.

The restrictions will apply until further notice.
