🎨Young Talents: A Showcase of Student Art🎨
Presented by: Wayne County Arts Alliance
The event was held at Bob Boyles Hall on Saturday, May 2nd, 2026. The fine art competition and exhibition showcased the artistic talent of High School and College students. Everyone who attended the show was impressed by the caliber of artistic talent of area young people.
This was the first major art exhibit presented by the Wayne County Arts Alliance. Financial support was given by FNB of Fairfield. Several donors provided cash prizes for the winners. Many of the students and family members were on hand for the 4pm awards ceremony. Three, $50 “Honorable Mention” prizes were given to the following works of art;
1. REBAR DEER HEAD by Brody Hutchcraft of Cisne High School.
2. JOHN an etching by Mackenzie Hoover of Troy, Illinois
3. GROTTO by Gideon Gifford of Decatur, Illinois
Award of excellence – Drawing - $100 awarded by Alex Atwood Country Financial to BOOTS AND ROOTS, Colored Pencil by Jayci Spencer of Carmi White-County High School
Award of excellence – Painting - $100 awarded by Dr. Pat and Jessica Molt
CALLING OF THE DOVE by Gideon Gifford of Decatur, Illinois
Award of excellence – Mixed media - $100 awarded by Dr. Steve and Connie Mitchell for CAT MADE FROM CATS by Addy Kiktavy, Fairfield Community High School

Best of Show, presented by Wabash Communications for a cash prize of $200, was awarded to the framed, color pencil drawing of two hunting dogs entitled JAKE AND MURRAY: ON POINT AT SUNRISE by Caroline Simmons of Carmi-White County High School
Local catering company, BAKED, was on hand with creative treats. The Wayne County Arts Alliance wishes to thank everyone who contributed to and attended the exhibit. We wish to thank the judges, Tammy Lee, Janet Kent, and Kaci Moats. Exhibit chairperson was David Harl, assisted by Donna Savage. Alliance members helped with staging and supervising the exhibit. Vicki Gifford is the Arts Alliance President and was thrilled with the community involvement and support for this exhibit, highlighting talented student artists.
