Hello NOVA Club Members,

With just days to go before the Model Classic 2026 at Fairfax High School this Saturday, we are in the final stretch—and we still need your help to make this event a success.

We still have several key volunteer gaps that must be filled, especially for the raffle. Without enough support, we may not be able to run the raffle this year. As you know, this event is critical to funding our club’s activities since we do not collect annual dues.

If you are able to volunteer, please sign up here:

Even an hour or two of your time will make a big difference.

This show is a reflection of our club, our passion, and our community. It takes all of us working together to deliver the experience we are known for. Let’s come together and make this year’s Model Classic one of our best.

Thank you for your support,

Scott Bricker
President, IPMS Northern Virginia

With Great Sadness – Remembering Ed Mautner

It is with deep sorrow that the IPMS Northern Virginia Chapter announces the sudden passing of our longtime member, friend, and fellow modeler, Ed Mautner.

Ed was more than just a skilled modeler—he was a kind, humble, and encouraging presence in our community. Quiet by nature but never absent in spirit, Ed’s support, mentorship, and warm smile left a lasting impact on everyone he met. His favorite modeling genre was naturally automobiles—especially fast ones—and his talent shone through in every build.

The photo below, taken from his obituary, captures the joy he brought to our chapter. His work was meticulous, his friendship genuine, and his absence will be deeply felt by all who knew him.

We invite you to visit his obituary, where you can:

Share a memory on his tribute wall

Send flowers or make a donation to Holy Cross Abbey in Berryville, VA, a place close to Ed’s heart

Listen to his story

Plant a tree in his memory

Below are a few additional photos of Ed’s incredible models—each one a reflection of his passion and skill.

We miss you, Ed. Thank you for everything you gave to this community.
