🌱 Meet one of the Hearts Behind Coos for Cancer: Madison, Secretary

We are honored to introduce the woman who helps steward the mission and integrity of Coos for Cancer—our Secretary, Madison. Here’s a little note from her heart:

Hi everyone! I’m Madison, and I serve as the secretary for Coos for Cancer.

Outside of this role, I stay pretty busy. I work full-time as a court clerk for Family Court, and am currently working toward a career in law. I’m also a mom to a very wild, very energetic 5-year-old boy who keeps me on my toes at all times, and a wife to the most supportive and generous husband, who somehow manages to keep us grounded.

My “why” for Coos for Cancer is very personal. My dad, our Founder, was diagnosed with cancer back in 2012, and walking through that experience as a family changed everything for us. Watching his strength, and the ups and downs that come with a diagnosis like that, is something I’ll never forget. Thankfully, he is now in remission, and that journey is what inspired my parents to start this amazing and inspiring organization.

For me, being part of Coos for Cancer is about turning that experience into something good. It’s about showing up for families who are going through some of the hardest moments of their lives, because we’ve been there. At the heart of it, I care about helping people, standing up for others, and making sure no one feels like they’re facing something alone. I’m so grateful to be part of this organization and to work alongside such an amazing group of people to support our community.

🌱 Meet one of the Hearts Behind Coos for Cancer: Bobbe, Co-Founder and COO

We are honored to introduce the woman who helps steward the mission and integrity of Coos for Cancer—our Co-Founder and COO, Bobbe. Here’s a little note from her heart:

Hey y’all, my name is Bobbe, and I am the Co-Founder and COO of Coos for Cancer.

My passion and drive for Coos for Cancer comes from the other side of the cancer journey. I’m the wife who watched her husband battle cancer and who still, to this day, watches him live with the lasting effects of treatment.

While our journey is currently in remission, I often find myself wondering… is it truly gone? Will it return? And what does our future look like if it does?

I share this side of our story so that others walking this same side of the cancer journey know they are not alone.

Coos for Cancer was dreamed up by my husband, James, and was brought to life not only to spread awareness through our passion for agriculture, but to support those impacted by cancer in a way that hasn’t been done before.

In my free time, I love living in the moment with family and friends while making the most of every day we’re blessed with.

🌱 Meet one of the Hearts Behind Coos for Cancer: Melissa, Director of Development

We are honored to introduce the woman who helps steward the mission and integrity of Coos for Cancer—our Director of Development, Melissa. Here’s a little note from her heart:

Hi I’m Melissa!

I am a ICU RN and boy mom to a precious 4 month old 🩵

I enjoy reading and crocheting in my free time, especially when the weather is nice and I can curl up in my rocker outside!
I am obsessed with baby cows and pigs 🙈

Coos for Cancer is very near and dear to my heart, many lives are unfortunately affected by cancer. I remember being a young girl getting ready to start high school, when we got the news that my dad had cancer. I remember feeling so lost and wish there was so much more I could have done to help during that time for my family. So many people helped us in more ways than I realized as a young girl, and now as an adult I couldn’t appreciate all that anymore. With Coos for Cancer we are now able to help others that are going through what our family has. The feeling of being able to help others sow seeds of hope is one of the best feelings!

Sometimes a name carries a story that will never be forgotten. 💛🎗️

Lightning Moo Queen was named in honor of Cooper. As many may remember “Moving Mountains for Cooper”, the brave little boy who loved Lightning McQueen and fought leukemia with incredible courage.

Today we’re sharing a new photo of her while remembering the powerful impact Cooper left behind.

In Cooper’s memory, the Cooper Steadman Foundtion has been created to continue spreading hope and helping others. We encourage everyone to go like, follow, and support the foundation. https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=61586038359067

Lightning Moo Queen is a reminder that one life, no matter how small , can create a ripple of hope that reaches far beyond what we can see, one of the many beauties that the vast wonders hold!

Drop a ⚡ in the comments to show how vast the support really is.

🌱 Meet one of the Hearts Behind Coos for Cancer: Shelby, Our Treasurer

We are honored to introduce the woman who helps steward the mission and integrity of Coos for Cancer—our Treasurer, Shelby. Here’s a little note from her heart:

Hi! 🖐 I'm Shelby

I enjoy road trips
Things that are homemade and meals made from scratch
Babies (animals and humans)make me squeal
I always count my chickens
I have too many books on my TBR
I could ride a horse before I could walk
Lifting is my therapy and nature is my therapist

Coos for Cancer is important to me because it allows us to touch a variety of lives in meaningful and unique ways. During difficult times, it can be hard to ask for help—or even know what kind of help is needed. Through Coos for Cancer, we can be the strength someone needs, a connection through shared stories and experiences, a distraction from reality, or simply a smile that brightens the day. We are there to offer a helping hand, a listening voice, and a reminder that no one fights alone.

🌱 Meet one of the Hearts Behind Coos for Cancer: James, Our Founder/CEO

We are honored to introduce the man who helps steward the mission and integrity of Coos for Cancer—our Founder/CEO. Here’s a little note from his heart:

Hello everyone! I am James Phillips, Founder/ CEO of Coos for Cancer. In 2012 I had a battle with testicular cancer. From that journey I was touched by the support, not from just family and friends, but from even strangers. Me and my wife, Bobbe, were determined to spread awareness and give support, but how were we going to do it? We were going use our passion for agriculture lead by our majestic coos! Coos for Cancer was born.

When I am not out giving support or spreading awareness in the community I enjoy making improvements around the ranch, spending time with family and/or friends or traveling for something agriculture with my best friend, my wife Bobbe.
