It started with my own battle with cancer.... I was a single mother of 4 young girls at the time, a daughter, a sister, a business owner. I had people who needed me and In my mind I had to figure out how to do and be all of those things and still survive. Between kids, countless dr appointments for myself and my children, endless treatments, scans, meds, business meetings and hands on work.... I w
as tired. I was scared. There were and are still days that I don't want to get out of bed. I didn't want to face another day of shakes, chills, throwing up. Being poked, prodded, taking meds that would or would not make things better... Days of getting good news only to be followed by the next set of scans that would show progression or labs with raised tumor markers....
I decided there had to be a way to keep me motivated, keep me going on the days where I just didn't want to do it anymore and my facebook journey began. I decided to risk it all and share my journey with my friends and family; ending each and every post no matter how good or how bad with GIDDY UP! It didn't take long before my little phrase started bouncing back at me. My friends knew that if I was having a bad day or even if THEY were having a bad day, they'd tag me in their posts with the hashtag . The next thing I knew my daughter ShyAnne had started a t-shirt fundraiser and soon after almost everywhere we went, my kids and I were seeing them. Talk about motivation!! And then one day through a series of events we suddenly needed to create the GIDDY UP KIDS KICKING CANCERS BUTT ARMY!
