Training Those Who Save Lives

The Indiana SWAT Officers Association (ISOA) has been established as a not-for-profit organization to advance the education and professionalism of personnel involved in critical-
incident response. It is the goal of the ISOA to provide education annually through a Spring Conference, which draws attendees from around the country.

“True leadership isn’t about being the person in charge; it’s about being the person others can count on when it matters most.”

Our conference doesn’t happen without true leaders who understand and believe in the importance of training.

Anyone who says training isn’t at the top of their department’s priority list is failing the people they lead. Training prepares officers to perform when it matters most and it starts with leaders who make training a priority.

Last year, ISOA trained hundreds of officers and welcomed 634 attendees to our annual conference. None of that happens without great leaders who understand the value of continued training and professional development.

Today, we pause to remember and honor the lives lost on September 11, 2001, and the countless lives forever changed by that tragic day.

We remember the heroes who ran toward danger when others were running away, the sacrifices made by first responders and ordinary citizens, and the families who continue to carry the weight of that day.

May we never forget the courage, sacrifice, compassion and unity that brought our nation together. May we always remember those we lost and honor their memory by continuing to stand together as one nation.

We’re halfway through the week, and LECTC 1 is in full swing here in Indiana.

Teams from across Hamilton County and Indiana are putting in long days with the Direct Action Resource Center (DARC), working through demanding problems, refining tactics, and building the kind of interoperability that matters when multiple agencies have to operate as one.

The corn is tall. The days are long. The training is legit.
