Celebrating the USMC birthday. It’s fitting that The Sanctuary on the Hill is highlighting Mike Burkdoll - a phenomenal leader, public servant, and Veteran supporter. Mike convened a young group of Veterans and supporters more than a year and a half ago to form what is currently the Veterans Overwatch board of directors. 🇺🇸

🇺🇸 Honoring the Life and Legacy of HM3 Ronnie Brookshire

It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of Navy Hospital Corpsman 3rd Class Ronnie Brookshire, a true American hero. During his service in Vietnam, Ronnie courageously treated and cared for more than 235 wounded Marines on the battlefield.

Following his military service, Ronnie’s dedication to others never wavered. He poured his heart into serving his community and fellow Veterans.

To honor Ronnie’s selfless service and enduring commitment to Veterans, the Ronnie Brookshire Scholarship was established. This annual scholarship, now supported by Veterans Overwatch, provides $5,000 to a child of a Veteran pursuing a four-year undergraduate degree. Through this scholarship, Ronnie’s legacy of service, sacrifice, and love for his community will continue to impact future generations.

We are deeply grateful for Ronnie’s life and sacrifice, and we extend our prayers and support to his family, friends, and all those who were touched by his strength and compassion.

🇺🇸 Supporting our military families doesn’t stop at the front lines — it extends to the next generation.

We’re proud to provide financial support to our partner, YMCA Camp Carson, helping make it possible for children of Veterans to attend this year’s summer camp. 🎯⛺️

For many of these kids, camp is more than just fun in the sun. It’s a chance to build confidence, make lifelong friends, and just be a kid — something especially important for children who carry the weight of service-related challenges at home.

Because of our supporters, children of Veterans have a place to play, grow, and thrive this summer — and that’s a mission worth investing in.

Thank you to YMCA Camp Carson for being a safe, supportive space for the kids who need it most. And thank YOU, our community, for helping us make this possible.
