I haven’t meant to be MIA. As I was recovering from a really nasty illness, my dog Steele had an injury last week that had us concerned we would have to make a tough decision. He is 11.5 years old and is struggling with some mobility issues that caused him to slide down several stairs, which injured his better rear leg and made it very hard for him to walk. We spent last week and all weekend letting him rest and assessing quality of life. Luckily, for now he is doing much better and is almost back to where he was pre-accident. With his age and size, all we can do at this point is go day by day, week by week until his bad leg gets to where is he is not able to get around on his own. Lots of tears have been shed even though I knew he would be reaching the end of his life soon. The kittens have been doing well, and I will be posting updates soon!!

I brought back the plague from my concert last week, so I haven’t had a chance to post this little cutie. Meet Juneau. She is slightly older than her future foster sisters, but close enough for them to be together. She’s a bit shy, but she’s doing really well. Once I am feeling better I will get better pics!

Sydney, Skye, and Florence are now BFFs! These three cuties went to a baby sitter for the night while I go to a concert in Nashville. I’m super thankful to Kelsie for watching my darlings so I can enjoy the show without worrying about them!

Baby Sydney has done so well this week! She is already eating a mix of formula and wet food, and she doesn’t really latch on to the bottle, but she’s eating plenty and warming up to me every day. She’s such a little cutie.

Late night intake last night. A former coworker reached out to me about a baby in need, and after getting the ok from the rescue, I went to retrieve this little cutie. She had been living with her mom and siblings under a shed, but we believe that a raccoon may have gotten to her siblings. Because of the immediate danger and no sign of mom, she had to be removed from the area. She’s definitely underweight, so it doesn’t seem like momma was keeping up with feeding her enough. So now she is here. She’s about 4 weeks old, and her appetite is good so hopefully will get the weight up quickly!

Skye and Florence have both been doing so well and have brought so much joy with how sweet and precious they are. Florence is a tiny purr machine, and Skye is a tank in kitten form. I want to make it very clear that the symptoms that Onyx, Midnight, and Ebony had were not the same as Paris and London, which were all different from Oslo. I refrain from putting full/specific medical details in my posts because over the years I have gotten tired of unsolicited medical advice from strangers on the internet. But rest assured I would not endanger new kittens if I thought they were coming in to an unsafe environment. The trio did likely have some sort of virus, so lots of disinfecting occurred. London and Paris were never even in the big incubator, and I found tiny seed ticks on them, leading me to consider a possible tick-borne illness (this is the first time I have EVER found ticks on neonates). Oslo broke my heart because I knew something was wrong, but when he was at the vet he was acting normally and thus no treatment was deemed necessary. He was fighting impossible odds, and there’s only so much a vet can do when they do not see any abnormal behavior during the appointment. I appreciate all the support I received in all the losses, and any negative comments will be dealt with as I see fit.

I love when what they think the “gotcha” moment is always just calling me ugly. 🤣

Oslo got a clean bill of health from the vet yesterday. He ate like a champ for the rescue all morning/afternoon, making me look like an overreacting psycho for being so worried. He’s still eating normally, so I’m not sure why his appetite was so poor before. I’m just glad he’s ok.

While waiting for an update on Oslo, I want to celebrate surgery day for my baby Golden Girls! Rose, Dorothy, and Blanche are getting spayed today! After surgery, Blanche will be spending a few more days with me before being picked up, and Rose and Dorothy will be going to the rescue to find a forever home! It’s always nice to celebrate something positive when so many things have gone wrong lately.
