NAACP Eugene Springfield Oregon Unit 1119 The Eugene/Springfield branch formed in 1976 creates political, educational, social, and economic equality

Since 1976, the Eugene/Springfield NAACP (National Association for the Advancement of Colored People) has served as a source of cohesion for our local communities of color. In Lane County, our primary activities include implementation of education programs, public awareness events, community building, and coalition work towards cultural inclusion. Additionally, the Eugene/Springfield NAACP provides support to other regional offices.

Safe, welcoming spaces for Black community members and communities of color aren't always easy to find, which is why opportunities like Open Gym are so important. This is a space where youth and families can gather, build relationships, stay active, and enjoy being in community with one another.

Come shoot hoops, meet new people, and help us continue creating spaces where everyone feels they belong.

See you at Open Gym!

On May 20th, 2026 we held a general meeting to learn together, protect our community’s voice, and join forces to defend the rights of Black voters across the U.S. The NAACP exists for moments like this, when rights are being narrowed, when confusion is high, and when people need a place to learn, gather, and act together.

Becoming a member of the NAACP Eugene-Springfield branch means you have a voice and be in conversation with others who care deeply about voting rights and racial justice. At our upcoming general meeting, we will collectively unpack what is happening and what to do about it.

If you want to connect and attend future meetings like this, please join as a member of your national and local NAACP: $30 adults 21+ | $10 youth per year at bit.ly/1119-B-join

We are in a moment where the rules that protected voting rights for decades are being rewritten, and the question is whether our communities are ready to respond together.

The Supreme Court has weakened one of the central protections of the civil rights movement, the Voting Rights Act. This changes how we are all represented across the country, including here in Oregon.

THIS GENERAL MEETING IS OPEN TO ALL COMMUNITY MEMBERS - Because of the importance of this topic and to invite you to experience a general membership meeting with our branch. You are welcome to share and invite like-minded folks to join and attend.
